Q: What is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 31mm Ref. 177200?
A: It’s a classic time‑only Rolex in stainless steel with a 31mm Oyster case, an automatic self‑winding movement and the robust Oyster bracelet. The 31mm size wears elegantly on smaller wrists and is a popular choice for women seeking a refined everyday Rolex.

Q: Which movement does it use and does it have a date?
A: The reference 177200 is powered by a Rolex automatic movement and is typically time‑only (no date). If you’d like us to confirm the exact calibre inside this specific watch, we’re happy to verify on request.

Q: Is it water‑resistant and can I swim with it?
A: The Oyster case was originally rated to 100 metres when new. For pre‑owned/vintage watches, water resistance cannot be guaranteed without recent gasket replacement and pressure testing. We recommend avoiding swimming or showering unless it has been freshly tested; always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before any exposure to moisture.

Q: What materials and crystal does it use?
A: The 177200 is crafted in stainless steel (Rolex Oystersteel) and typically features a scratch‑resistant sapphire crystal. If you’d like confirmation of the crystal on this exact piece, please contact us and we’ll verify it for you.

Q: Will it fit my wrist, and can the bracelet be resized?
A: The bracelet currently fits a wrist of approximately 17 cm. The Oyster bracelet can be sized by adding/removing links; we can size it prior to dispatch and may be able to source additional links (subject to availability). Share your wrist measurement and we’ll advise options.

Q: How do I wind and set the time?
A: Unscrew the crown anti‑clockwise. Position 1: wind the watch (about 20–30 turns if it has stopped). Pull to the time‑setting position to move the hands to the correct time. When finished, push the crown in and screw it down firmly to help maintain water resistance.

Q: What accuracy and servicing should I expect?
A: A well‑maintained Oyster Perpetual should keep excellent everyday time, though performance varies with age and service history. As a guide, a routine service every 5–10 years is sensible, or sooner if you notice issues (e.g., running fast/slow or moisture). Keep it away from strong magnets and extreme heat, and wipe it with a soft microfibre cloth after wear.

Q: What condition is this watch in?
A: It is in very good pre‑loved condition inside and out. The hardware is shiny with light scratches consistent with careful wear. It is currently running well and includes a 12‑month mechanical guarantee from A Retro Tale.
