CartierTank Francaise 20mm Ref 2384 Watch

Q: What is the Cartier Tank Française 20mm Ref 2384?
A: It’s a Swiss‑made, time‑only quartz wristwatch in stainless steel with the iconic Tank Française rectangular case (approx. 20mm wide), white dial and integrated steel bracelet. This example is vintage and in very good condition, showing light, honest wear on the hardware.

Q: Will it fit my wrist?
A: The bracelet on this watch is currently sized to approximately 16cm. If your wrist is larger, we can advise on sourcing additional links (subject to availability and potential cost) or help with sizing options before shipping—just share your wrist measurement.

Q: Does this reference have a date, and how do I set the time?
A: Most Ref 2384 models are time‑only (no date). To set the time, gently pull the crown out one click and turn it to the desired time, then push the crown back in. If your particular dial variant includes a date window, avoid changing the date between about 8pm and 2am and have a watchmaker confirm the correct setting procedure.

Q: What movement and battery does it use, and how long will the battery last?
A: It uses a Swiss quartz movement. Quartz watches typically run on a 1.55V silver‑oxide button cell, with battery life around 2–3 years depending on use and storage. The exact cell type can vary—please have a professional watchmaker confirm and replace the battery to avoid damage.

Q: Is it water‑resistant?
A: While the Tank Française line is generally rated for everyday splash resistance, water resistance on vintage pieces is not guaranteed. We recommend avoiding swimming, showering or submersion. If light splash resistance is important, have the gaskets replaced and the watch pressure‑tested by an authorised or qualified watchmaker, and always keep the crown fully pushed in.

Q: Can the bracelet be resized or swapped for a strap?
A: The integrated steel bracelet can be resized by adding or removing links. Converting a bracelet‑model Tank Française to a leather strap isn’t standard and may require non‑original adapters; we recommend keeping the original bracelet. Contact us for sizing help or link options.

Q: What is included, and how will it be delivered?
A: This watch is delivered without accessories (no original box/papers unless stated otherwise). A Retro Tale provides free, insured DHL shipping within the EU, a 14‑day return policy, and a 12‑month warranty on the movement. We own all watches listed and guarantee 100% authenticity.

Q: How should I care for and clean the watch?
A: Wipe the case and bracelet with a soft microfibre cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately; avoid abrasive compounds, ultrasonic cleaners on vintage pieces, and exposure to perfumes, solvents or strong magnets. Store the watch away from moisture and extreme temperatures.

Q: How often should a quartz Cartier be serviced?
A: Quartz watches primarily need a battery change every 2–3 years. A full service is usually only required if there are issues (e.g., moisture, erratic timekeeping, or quartz stepper wear). Have seals checked periodically if you want to maintain light water resistance.

Q: Is this watch authentic, and can you verify details like the reference and serial?
A: Yes—A Retro Tale specialises in authentic luxury vintage accessories and professionally authenticates every item. This piece is Swiss‑made and carries the Cartier Tank Française Ref 2384 designation; the serial number for this watch is 439043CE. We’re happy to provide additional photos or information on request.
