ChanelKelly Parent and Child Bag

Q: What is the Chanel Kelly Parent and Child set?
A: It is a vintage two-piece set comprising a larger structured top-handle flap and a smaller mini, both with CC turn-lock closures and gold-tone hardware. The style is popularly nicknamed the Chanel "Kelly" for its ladylike silhouette; it is a Chanel design and not affiliated with Hermès.

Q: Can the two bags be used separately or together?
A: Each bag has its own top handle and can be carried on its own. Some vintage sets were originally paired with a gold-tone clip that links the mini to the larger bag; inclusion varies by set. Please review the photos and the product information on this page to see exactly what accompanies this item.

Q: Does this set include a shoulder strap or crossbody option?
A: This design is intended for handheld carry only. There is no shoulder strap listed for this item and no strap measurement provided. For the long-term health of the leather, we do not recommend attaching aftermarket chains or clasps to the handle.

Q: What typically fits inside the larger bag and the smaller bag?
A: Based on the posted measurements, the larger bag comfortably holds daily essentials such as a smartphone, small wallet or card holder, keys and a few cosmetics. The smaller bag suits compact items like cards, folded notes, a key and lipstick. Capacity varies by how you pack; please compare the dimensions with your own items.

Q: What does serial number 3061784 indicate?
A: Chanel serial numbers beginning with 3xxxxx correspond to production circa 1994–1996. This piece also carries a Made in France label, consistent with the period.

Q: How should I care for the dark brown lambskin?
A: Keep the leather away from prolonged light, heat and humidity, and avoid contact with liquids and colour-transfer-prone textiles. To reduce the look of light marks on lambskin, gently buff with a soft, clean cloth in small circular motions. Store the bags upright in a breathable dust bag, loosely stuffed to support their shape, and prevent hardware from pressing into the leather. For deep cleaning or restoration, consult Chanel Client Care or a reputable handbag specialist.

Q: Will Chanel service or repair this vintage set?
A: Chanel’s Client Care (Chanel & moi) offers services subject to in-person assessment and availability of parts. Policies and warranty coverage differ from items purchased new at Chanel; for older vintage pieces, some cosmetic refinishing may be limited, while many structural repairs may still be possible. If boutique service is unavailable, experienced third-party handbag specialists can assist.

Q: Are there any condition notes I should be aware of?
A: Yes. We grade this set as Good. The handle on the smaller bag shows visible cracks and scuffing; the interior shows light traces of use; the hardware is shiny with light scratches. Please review the photos for full detail.

Q: What product information is included with this item?
A: This item comes with a dust bag, authenticity card and serial number tag. Everything included is listed under the product information section; if an item such as the original box is not listed there, it is not included.
