Saint LaurentEast West Raffia Tote Bag

Q: What typically fits inside this East West Raffia Tote?
A: With approximate measurements of 39 x 28 x 11 cm, it comfortably holds A4 documents, a 13-inch laptop or tablet, a long wallet, phone, sunglasses, a small cosmetics pouch and a water bottle. Capacity will vary with how you pack—please refer to the measurements and photos on this page.

Q: Will it fit a laptop?
A: Yes, it fits most 13-inch laptops and many slim 14-inch devices. A 15-inch may fit depending on the model, but there is no padded compartment, so we recommend using a protective sleeve.

Q: Is raffia durable for everyday use?
A: Raffia is lightweight and surprisingly strong for day-to-day essentials, but it is a natural fibre that can snag or fray with rough contact and may stretch if overloaded. For longevity, avoid carrying very heavy items and be mindful of abrasion against textured clothing or surfaces.

Q: Is it water-resistant? What should I do if it gets wet?
A: Natural raffia is not water-resistant. Try to keep the bag dry and out of steady rain. If it becomes damp, blot gently with a clean, dry cloth and allow it to air-dry in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat or sunlight. Do not use a hairdryer or heater, and avoid soaking the bag.

Q: How should I clean and care for the raffia and leather trim?
A: Dust the raffia with a soft brush or cloth and use a barely damp cloth to spot clean—avoid rubbing and avoid harsh cleaners. Let it air-dry naturally. Condition only the leather trim occasionally with a suitable leather conditioner, taking care not to touch the raffia. Store stuffed with acid-free tissue in a breathable dust bag, out of direct sunlight.

Q: Does the bag close, and how is the interior organised?
A: This piece has an open top for easy access and a lined interior in brown fabric with one main compartment, as shown in the photos. There is no top zip. Please review the imagery for the exact interior layout of this specific item.

Q: Can it be worn on the shoulder?
A: Yes. The dual flat leather straps have an approximate drop of 25 cm, designed for comfortable shoulder carry, even over light layers.

Q: How can I minimise or manage fraying on a raffia bag?
A: Avoid snag-prone surfaces and overfilling. If a fibre lifts, do not pull it—gently tuck it back or very carefully trim a loose end with small scissors. For more significant wear, seek a professional bag spa experienced with raffia repairs.

Q: What is the condition of this pre-owned item?
A: Very good overall. There is light wear on the handles and slight fraying consistent with normal use. The hardware remains shiny with light scratches, and the interior shows light signs of use. Please review all photos for the most accurate view.

Q: What accessories are included and where was it made?
A: This item comes with a dust bag and booklet. The country of origin label states Italy. As always, all inclusions are listed on this page and shown in the photos.
