Q: Is the Cartier Tank Française Ref. 2384 a quartz or mechanical watch?
A: Ref. 2384 is generally associated with a quartz movement, so it is battery-powered rather than automatic or hand-wound. This makes it especially convenient for daily wear and easy timekeeping.

Q: What size is this watch, and how does 20 mm wear on the wrist?
A: This watch has a 20 mm case width, which is the classic small Tank Française size. Because of the rectangular case and integrated bracelet, it wears elegantly and refined rather than overly bulky, making it ideal if you prefer a discreet, jewellery-like look.

Q: Will this watch fit my wrist?
A: The current bracelet length is listed as fitting a wrist of 15.5 cm or smaller. If your wrist is larger, extra links may need to be sourced separately unless otherwise stated in the product information.

Q: Can the bracelet be resized?
A: Yes, the steel bracelet can usually be adjusted by a watchmaker through link removal or addition. As no extra links are listed in the product information for this piece, reducing the size is usually straightforward, while increasing it may require additional links.

Q: Does this watch come with the original box or papers?
A: No. The product information states that this watch is offered without accompanying items. If anything additional is included, it will be clearly stated in the product information.

Q: What condition is this watch in?
A: It is listed in very good overall condition, with very good internal and external condition. The hardware is described as shiny with light scratches, which is consistent with careful pre-owned wear.

Q: Is the Tank Française suitable for everyday wear?
A: Yes, the stainless steel case and bracelet make it a practical and versatile everyday watch. Its slim, classic design also works beautifully for smarter occasions, but as a pre-owned piece it should still be worn with sensible care.

Q: Can I wear this watch in water?
A: We do not recommend exposing a pre-owned watch to water. Even if similar models were originally designed with modest water resistance, age, seals, and service history can affect real-world performance over time.

Q: How often will it need a battery change or service?
A: Quartz Cartier watches need periodic battery replacement, and it is wise to have the seals checked at the same time. For the best care, battery work and servicing should be carried out by Cartier or a trusted professional watchmaker.

Q: How do you authenticate this watch?
A: Every watch at A Retro Tale is carefully examined by in-house experts before it is offered for sale. This includes checks of reference and serial details, dial and case characteristics, movement type, construction, and overall finishing.
