Q: Is this Chanel Bow Brooch authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid gold?
A: This brooch is crafted from gold‑tone metal (typically gold‑plated base metal), characteristic of vintage Chanel fashion jewellery. It is not solid gold. The finish offers a rich, lustrous shine; please review the close‑up photos for details on the texture and condition of the plating.

Q: What are the measurements and how big is it?
A: The brooch measures approximately 3.5 cm (height) x 6.5 cm (width) x 1 cm (depth). Its medium size makes it versatile enough for lapels, collars, or even hats without being overpowering.

Q: How does it fasten and is it secure?
A: It features a traditional pin‑back fastening. Vintage Chanel pins are generally sturdy, but for added security—especially on smoother fabrics—we recommend ensuring the catch is fully closed or using a small stopper behind the fabric.

Q: How can I style this bow brooch?
A: The classic bow motif is timeless and feminine. It looks elegant pinned to the lapel of a structured blazer or coat, centred on a high‑neck blouse, or used to secure a silk scarf. You can also pin it to a hat band or a fabric handbag to add a signature Chanel touch.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect?
A: Vintage Chanel brooches typically feature an oval plaque on the reverse stamped with “CHANEL,” the CC logo, and “Made in France.” Some eras also include a season code. Our listing photos show the specific hallmarks present on this piece.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Vintage fashion jewellery alloys may contain nickel. If you have metal sensitivities, we recommend wearing the brooch over clothing rather than directly against the skin. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone finish?
A: Keep the brooch dry and avoid direct contact with perfume, hairspray, and cosmetics, which can tarnish the plating. Apply fragrances before putting on your jewellery. After wear, wipe it gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and store it separately in a pouch or box to prevent scratches.

Q: Can it be repaired or replated?
A: A professional jeweller can often straighten pins or perform gentle replating if necessary. We do not offer in‑house repairs, but we can recommend reputable specialists. Please note that restoration work can affect the item's originality and resale value.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This brooch is in Very Good Condition (353326), meaning it has been well‑cared for with only light signs of wear. No accessories are included. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
