Q: What size is the Chanel Camellia Brooch?
A: This brooch measures approximately 7 cm in height, 7.5 cm in width and 0.5 cm in depth. It is a noticeable statement piece rather than a small pin, so it works especially well on lapels, coats, scarves and structured knitwear.

Q: What is this brooch made from?
A: According to the product information, this vintage Chanel brooch is crafted in gold-tone metal and fastens with a pin closure.

Q: What does the camellia motif mean for Chanel?
A: The camellia is one of Chanel’s most recognisable house symbols and one of Gabrielle Chanel’s favourite flowers. Its clean, graphic shape and timeless elegance make it a classic Chanel motif.

Q: How should I wear a brooch like this without damaging clothing?
A: A brooch of this size is best suited to sturdier fabrics such as wool coats, tweed jackets, blazers, scarves and heavier knitwear. For delicate silk or very fine knits, use extra support such as a hidden felt backing and avoid pinning the piece where the fabric is under strain.

Q: How should I care for vintage Chanel costume jewellery?
A: Apply fragrance, hairspray and makeup before putting the brooch on. Avoid water, soap and cleaning chemicals, wipe it gently with a soft dry cloth after use, and store it separately in a dry pouch or jewellery box to help prevent scratches and discolouration.

Q: Is this brooch authentic?
A: Every item sold by A Retro Tale is authenticated by in-house experts. For Chanel brooches, authenticity is typically assessed through hallmarks or back stamps where applicable, along with construction, finish, materials and overall detailing.

Q: Can vintage Chanel brooches be dated?
A: Many Chanel costume jewellery pieces can be dated by their back stamp or plaque, although some earlier pieces may be unmarked. If you would like more specific dating details for this brooch, please contact us for additional product information.

Q: What condition is this piece in?
A: This brooch is listed in very good condition. The hardware is described as shiny with light scratches, which is consistent with gentle vintage wear.

Q: Does it come with a box, card or other extras?
A: No. The product information states that there are no included extras with this piece.
