Q: Is this Chanel Camellia Rhinestone Brooch authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid silver?
A: Chanel brooches are fashion jewellery typically crafted from metal with crystal strass/rhinestones in silver‑ or gold‑tone finishes. This piece is described as silver‑tone with rhinestones; it is not solid sterling silver. If you would like us to confirm any composition details visible on this exact brooch, please ask.

Q: How big is it and how will it wear?
A: The brooch measures approximately 3 cm (height) x 3 cm (width) x 1 cm (depth). It offers a refined accent on lapels, collars and accessories without feeling bulky. If you would like the gram weight or a photo on model for scale, message us and we will provide it.

Q: How does it fasten and can I make it extra secure?
A: It features a traditional pin closure. For added security (especially on thicker fabrics), many clients use locking pin backs or a small rubber stopper on the pin post, or add a felt/backing disc on the inside of the garment to stabilise the brooch.

Q: Can I wear it on coats, knitwear, scarves or bags without damaging the fabric?
A: Yes—brooches work well on structured fabrics like wool coats and blazers. On delicate fabrics (silk, fine knits), test in an inconspicuous spot and consider a small felt backing disc or a magnetic adapter to avoid pulls and stretching. If pinning to a handbag, go through a reinforced area (such as a strap) to avoid marking delicate leather.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a vintage Chanel brooch?
A: Vintage Chanel costume jewellery often has an oval cartouche on the reverse bearing CHANEL and MADE IN FRANCE; from the early 1990s onward, plaques commonly include season/year codes. Placement and format vary by era. Our photos show any stamps present on this piece.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? What about nickel?
A: Fashion jewellery alloys and platings may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, wear the brooch over clothing, consider a clear barrier product on contact areas, and discontinue use if irritation occurs. EU/UK regulations limit nickel release in jewellery, but individual reactions vary.

Q: How should I care for the rhinestones and silver‑tone finish?
A: Keep it dry and away from perfume, hairspray, lotions and hand sanitiser. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid soaking, ultrasonic cleaners and chemical dips, as moisture and harsh chemicals can dull crystals or weaken adhesives. Store separately in a pouch or box.

Q: Can it be repaired, replated or converted to a pendant?
A: A competent jeweller can often straighten or tighten the pin, replace a catch, or perform gentle replating. Some boutiques may offer after‑sales care for costume jewellery at their discretion. Brooch‑to‑pendant converters are also available if you would like to wear it as a necklace. Any modification may affect originality and resale value—ask us for reputable specialists if needed.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This brooch is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless otherwise noted. This listing includes no accessories unless specifically shown or stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
