Q: Is this Chanel CC Pearl Medallion Brooch authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What materials is it made from? Is it solid gold?
A: This is a piece of vintage Chanel costume jewellery. It is crafted from gold‑tone metal (plated) featuring Chanel’s signature interwoven black leather chain detail and faux pearl embellishments. It is not solid gold, and the pearls are costume (faux) pearls, consistent with classic Chanel designs.

Q: How big is the brooch and is it heavy?
A: It measures approximately 5.5 cm in height and 8.5 cm in width. With a width of 8.5 cm and the dangling medallion, it is a statement piece with a substantial presence and weight. It is designed to be noticed.

Q: How does it fasten?
A: It features a standard pin closure on the reverse. Please refer to the close‑up images to view the mechanism and condition of the pin.

Q: How should I style it? Can I wear it on light fabrics?
A: Due to its size and the weight of the metal and medallion, we recommend pinning it to structured fabrics such as wool coats, tweed blazers, or chunky knitwear. It may be too heavy for delicate materials like silk or fine rayon, which could sag or tear under the weight.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect?
A: Vintage Chanel brooches typically bear an oval hallmark plate on the back, stamped with ‘CHANEL’, ‘Made in France’, and often a date/season code. The placement and style can vary by era; please check our photos for the specific markings on this piece.

Q: How do I care for the leather and faux pearls?
A: This piece requires gentle care due to the mix of materials. Avoid getting the leather wet or exposing it to lotions. Faux pearls are sensitive to chemicals—always apply perfume and hairspray before putting on the brooch to prevent the pearl coating from peeling. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after use.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This brooch is in Very Good Condition with signs of wear consistent with its vintage age (Reference: 353326). This listing includes no accessories (no box or dust bag). Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility and conditions.
