Q: Is this Chanel Pin Brooch authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid silver?
A: Chanel costume jewellery is typically crafted from plated base metal with a silver‑tone finish and decorative elements such as crystals. This brooch features silver‑tone hardware with crystal embellishments and dangling “CHANEL” letter charms. It is not solid sterling silver unless explicitly stated.

Q: How big is it and how will it sit when worn?
A: The brooch measures approximately 1 cm (height) x 5.5 cm (width) x 1 cm (depth). Its safety‑pin silhouette offers a sleek, elongated profile that reads clearly on lapels, coat fronts and knitwear without feeling overly heavy on most fabrics.

Q: How does it fasten and is it secure?
A: It uses a pin fastening integrated into the safety‑pin design. For extra security or to protect delicate fabrics, you may add a small brooch stopper/locking clutch or use a thin felt backing disc inside the garment to stabilise the pin.

Q: Where can I wear it—on coats, knitwear, scarves or bags?
A: Brooches work well on structured fabrics like wool coats, blazers, denim and canvas. On fine knits or silk, test in an inconspicuous spot and use a backing disc to prevent pulls. If styling on a handbag, pin through a reinforced area (e.g., strap or inner seam) to avoid marking delicate leather. It also looks chic securing a scarf fold.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on Chanel brooches?
A: Chanel costume jewellery commonly bears the CHANEL signature and often a country of origin (frequently “Made in France/Italy”), sometimes with season codes. Formats vary by era—oval or round plaques, or engraved marks. Please refer to our close‑up photos to view any stamps present on this piece.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: Fashion jewellery alloys and platings may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, avoid prolonged skin contact, consider applying a clear barrier product to contact points, and discontinue wear if irritation occurs. Pinning over thicker fabric minimises skin contact.

Q: How should I care for the silver‑tone finish and crystals?
A: Keep the brooch dry and away from perfume, hairspray, lotions, hand sanitiser and cleaning chemicals. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store it separately in a pouch/box to prevent scratches and preserve the crystal sparkle.

Q: Can it be repaired, replated, or converted to a pendant?
A: A competent jeweller can often straighten or tighten the pin, replace a catch, and perform light replating. Brooch‑to‑pendant converters are available if you’d like to wear it on a chain. Chanel boutiques may offer care or adjustments at their discretion. Any modification can affect originality and resale value—ask us for reputable specialists.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This brooch is in Very Good Condition, with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. This listing includes no accessories unless specifically shown or stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
