Q: Is this Givenchy Chain Necklace authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What materials is it made from? Is it solid gold and are the crystals diamonds?
A: Vintage Givenchy jewellery is typically crafted from gold‑tone plated base metal with glass crystals/rhinestones. It is not solid gold and the stones are not diamonds unless explicitly stated. Exact composition can vary by era—please review the photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm specifics for this necklace.

Q: What is the length, how will it sit, and is it adjustable?
A: The listed perimeter is approximately 45 cm, which generally sits around the collarbone on most wearers. A toggle clasp usually provides a fixed length without an extender. If you need the precise wearable range or drop, message us and we’ll measure it for you; a jeweller can often add a short extender if desired.

Q: How does it fasten and is a toggle clasp secure?
A: This necklace uses a T‑bar toggle that passes through a ring to close. When properly seated, toggles are secure for normal wear. As with any jewellery, avoid vigorous activity and ensure the bar is fully through the ring before letting go.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on vintage Givenchy necklaces?
A: Most vintage pieces feature a signed plaque or stamp with “GIVENCHY”; some may include “Paris–New York” or a country of origin depending on the era. Placement varies (often near the clasp or on a tag). Our listing photos show any available marks on this piece.

Q: What size and weight is the chain? Will it feel heavy?
A: Please refer to the images for scale on the double‑link chain. If you’d like the precise link width/thickness and approximate gram weight for comfort reference, just ask and we’ll measure it for you.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: Vintage and fashion jewellery may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider applying a clear barrier product on contact points or wearing the piece over lightweight clothing. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone plating and crystal embellishments?
A: Keep it dry and avoid perfume, lotions, hairspray and hand sanitiser. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; use a dry cotton bud to remove dust around stone settings. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store individually in a pouch or box to prevent scratches and preserve colour and sparkle.

Q: Will the finish tarnish or fade, or can crystals loosen over time?
A: Plated finishes can show light wear with use—especially at high‑friction points like the clasp. Crystals can dull or loosen if exposed to moisture, impact or chemicals. Proper care and storage help maintain appearance; any notable wear is disclosed in our photos and condition notes.

Q: Can it be resized, extended, repaired or replated?
A: A competent jeweller can often add a short extender, adjust length slightly, replace or service the toggle, reset crystals and perform gentle replating. Alterations may affect originality and resale value. We don’t offer in‑house modifications but can recommend reputable specialists on request.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included and can I return it?
A: This piece is listed in Very Good Condition; expect gentle vintage wear such as minor micro‑scratches or light plating rub unless stated otherwise. Only accessories specifically shown or listed are included (this item has no accessories). Returns are accepted in line with our policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility and timeframes and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
