Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Damier Ravello GM?
A: With approximate measurements of 25 × 17 × 8 cm, it comfortably carries daily essentials: a large smartphone (including most Pro/Max models), a continental wallet or cardholder, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, AirPods and a small cosmetics pouch. An A5 diary fits easily; an iPad mini–sized tablet can fit horizontally, while A4 documents and a 500 ml bottle generally won’t sit upright due to the 17 cm height and curved zip opening. If you’d like a tailored fit check, just ask and we’ll test this exact piece.

Q: Is the strap adjustable and can I wear it crossbody?
A: The Ravello GM typically features an adjustable shoulder strap. On this specific item, the strap measurement is approximately 54 cm, which allows comfortable shoulder wear and a high crossbody fit on many wearers. Some editions originally came with an additional long strap; inclusions vary by year and retailer. Everything included with this listing is shown under “Accessories” (this piece lists “no accessories”).

Q: How secure is the closure and what’s the pocket layout?
A: The Ravello GM has a zip‑top main compartment for everyday security and an exterior front pocket with a push‑lock closure for quick‑access items. Inside, you’ll typically find a main compartment and a slip pocket. We recommend using the interior pocket for valuables and keeping the bag upright while commuting.

Q: What materials and lining does this model use?
A: It’s crafted in Damier Ebene coated canvas with brown leather trim and gold‑tone hardware. The interior is lined in red Alcantara (microfibre/suede‑like) with organisational slip pockets. This piece is labelled Made in France.

Q: What does the date code VI4018 mean?
A: Louis Vuitton date codes on bags from this era indicate factory and production timing. “VI” signifies a French workshop; “4018” denotes the 41st week of 2008. Note that from around 2021, Louis Vuitton transitioned from visible date codes to embedded microchips; older pieces like this one still carry a traditional code.

Q: Is the Ravello GM still in production?
A: The Ravello GM is discontinued. Availability is limited to the pre‑loved market, where you’ll find variations in strap configurations and interior details depending on production year.

Q: How should I care for Damier Ebene canvas, leather trim and Alcantara lining?
A: Keep the bag away from heavy moisture and prolonged sun. Wipe the coated canvas and leather trim with a soft, dry cloth; condition smooth leather very sparingly with a high‑quality neutral product after testing on a discreet area. Be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim onto lighter leathers. For Alcantara, gently brush or vacuum with a low‑suction upholstery tool to lift dust; blot (don’t rub) if lightly damp and allow to air‑dry away from heat. Store the bag upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag, and avoid hanging it for long periods.

Q: Any tips for the push‑lock and hardware?
A: Gold‑tone hardware can show fine hairline scratches and natural discolouration with use—common on vintage pieces. To minimise marks, avoid abrasive surfaces and protect hardware during storage with a soft cloth. Operate the push‑lock by pressing straight in/out to reduce friction; if you notice resistance, don’t force it—contact a specialist for adjustment.

Q: Where are brand markings located and how do you authenticate?
A: Authentic Ravello GM bags feature an interior heat‑stamp (e.g., “LOUIS VUITTON Paris”) and, for this era, a date code placed on a small leather tab or along an interior seam. At A Retro Tale, every item undergoes rigorous multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, date code/microchip and overall construction—we stand behind the authenticity of every piece we sell.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: All inclusions are listed under “Accessories.” This particular listing notes “no accessories.” If you need confirmation or additional measurements (e.g., exact strap drop on your frame), just let us know and we’ll help.
