Q: How big is this Alma PM and what fits inside?
A: This bag measures approximately 31 × 24 × 17 cm. It comfortably holds a long wallet, smartphone, sunglasses, keys, a small cosmetics pouch, and a small tablet (around 9–10 inches). It is not intended for most 13-inch laptops; if you need to carry a larger device regularly, consider the Alma MM.

Q: How is it carried and what is the handle drop?
A: This is a classic handheld style with dual rolled leather top handles. The handle drop is about 9 cm, which is ideal for hand carry or the crook of the arm.

Q: Does this bag come with a shoulder strap, or can I add one?
A: This specific piece comes with no accessories and was designed for hand carry. Some modern Alma PM versions allow an optional strap to clip to the handle mounts, but vintage Epi Alma PM bags were primarily intended to be handheld—please refer to the photos to see the hardware on this item.

Q: Does it include a padlock and keys?
A: Many Alma PM models originally came with a padlock and a key bell, but this listing states “no accessories,” so a padlock, keys, or dust bag are not included. Everything provided is always listed under Accessories.

Q: What are the benefits of Epi leather?
A: Epi is a deep-dyed, textured cowhide that’s known for its structure, durability and relative resistance to everyday wear. The grained finish helps conceal light marks and makes it a great choice for frequent use.

Q: How should I care for vintage Epi leather and the interior lining?
A: Wipe the exterior with a soft, light-coloured cloth when needed, avoid solvents or harsh cleaners, and keep the bag away from heat, humidity and prolonged direct sunlight. Store it loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag to help maintain its shape, and avoid contact with oils, hand sanitiser, make-up and perfume. For minor interior lint or dust, use a clean, dry cloth or a gentle fabric brush.

Q: Is Epi leather rain-friendly?
A: Epi leather is more water-resistant than many smooth leathers, but it’s still best to avoid heavy rain. If it gets wet, blot dry with a soft cloth and allow it to air dry naturally away from heat sources.

Q: What does the date code MI1926 mean?
A: MI indicates manufacture in France. With the 1990–2006 date-code format, the first and third digits show the month and the second and fourth digits show the year, so “1926” decodes to December 1996. Note that date codes are not unique serial numbers and are not, by themselves, proof of authenticity—A Retro Tale authenticates all items via multi-point inspection.

Q: How does the Alma PM compare to the BB and MM sizes?
A: The PM is the classic, medium everyday size. The BB is smaller and typically comes with a strap for crossbody wear, while the MM is larger and better suited if you need extra capacity (for example, a notebook or larger tablet).
