Q: What is the chain length and where will it sit?
A: The chain measures 46 cm (about 18 inches). On most people this length sits near the collarbone and layers well with shorter or longer chains. To check the drop on you, cut a string to 46 cm and try it on to see where it falls.

Q: What materials is it made from?
A: This vintage necklace is described as sterling silver. Sterling silver is an alloy containing 92.5% pure silver, typically indicated by the 925 mark. Any yellow colour seen in the design is a gold‑tone detail; unless a listing explicitly states gold or gold vermeil, it should not be assumed to be solid gold.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect on Tiffany silver pieces?
A: Authentic Tiffany silver typically bears the Tiffany & Co. signature and a metal purity mark such as 925. Hallmark styles can vary by era and collection. Please refer to our photos and the product information for the specific stamps on this piece.

Q: Does sterling silver tarnish and how should I care for it?
A: Yes—silver can naturally tarnish with exposure to air, moisture and chemicals. Regular wear actually helps minimise tarnish. Clean gently with a quality silver polishing cloth and avoid contact with bleach, chlorine and harsh cleaners. Store the necklace dry, ideally in a soft pouch or box to limit air exposure.

Q: Can I wear it in the pool or sea?
A: We recommend removing it before swimming. Chlorinated or salt water can accelerate tarnish and may dull finishes over time.

Q: Can the length be adjusted without permanent alteration?
A: Yes. If you prefer extra drop, a jeweller or a clasp‑on extender can add a few centimetres without modifying the original chain. The spring ring closure used here is commonly compatible with extenders.

Q: What clasp does it use and is it secure for daily wear?
A: It features a spring ring clasp, a widely used, secure fastener when properly closed. Ensure the spring returns fully after fastening.

Q: Will Tiffany clean or polish this necklace?
A: Tiffany & Co. offers professional cleaning, polishing, repairs and fit alterations for their jewellery; service fees may apply. Light surface marks on silver can often be reduced by professional polishing.

Q: What is included with my purchase?
A: Everything included is listed in the product information. If a Tiffany box or pouch is not listed there, it is not included.

Q: Is the item authentic?
A: Every piece at A Retro Tale is rigorously authenticated by our in‑house experts. Please note that Tiffany & Co. does not operate a public authentication programme; we stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell.
