Q: What is the size of this Cartier Panthère and how does it wear on the wrist?
A: The case measures 27 mm across (medium/midsize in the Panthère family). Because it is a square design, it wears a touch larger than a round 27 mm watch; similar models have an approximate 36 mm lug-to-lug length, giving a balanced presence on small to medium wrists.

Q: What movement does it use and how often will it need a battery?
A: It runs on a Swiss quartz movement. Typical battery life is around 2–3 years, and Cartier advises replacing the battery and seals periodically to maintain performance and water resistance. A movement check every ~5 years is recommended.

Q: Is this vintage Panthère water-resistant?
A: The reference 1100 was originally rated to 30 m/3 ATM, suitable for light splashes only. As a vintage watch, water resistance is not guaranteed; we recommend keeping it dry unless it has been pressure-tested after a recent seal replacement.

Q: Where is the date display and how do I set the time and date?
A: The date is positioned at about 5 o’clock. For most Cartier quartz models, the crown’s first click adjusts the date and the second click adjusts the time. Avoid changing the date between roughly 9 pm and 3 am to protect the mechanism; if unsure, consult a professional.

Q: What materials and features does this model have?
A: The ref. 1100 Panthère combines stainless steel with 18k yellow gold accents, a cream/ivory dial with Roman numerals, a blue cabochon crown, a scratch‑resistant sapphire crystal and a date function. This piece is fitted with a black leather strap and pin buckle.

Q: Is the gold on this two‑tone model solid or plated?
A: On ref. 1100 two‑tone pieces, the bezel is 18k yellow gold paired with a stainless‑steel case. This construction is typical for the model and period.

Q: Can I change the strap, and do I need a Cartier strap?
A: Yes, the leather strap can be replaced. For best fit and finish, a Cartier strap and matching buckle are recommended, but high‑quality third‑party leather straps that match the correct dimensions can be fitted by a competent watchmaker.

Q: What servicing should I plan for with a vintage Cartier quartz watch?
A: Plan for a battery and seal service about every 2–3 years and a full movement check roughly every 5 years. Only qualified watchmakers should open the case; maintaining fresh gaskets and proper sealing is essential for moisture protection.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under product information for this listing. If an item (such as a box or papers) is not mentioned there, it is not included.

A: Every piece at A Retro Tale undergoes multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, reviewing materials, construction, stamps, engravings and movement to ensure authenticity. We are happy to provide additional photos or details on request.
