Q: What does the Horse Carriage motif represent?
A: Often called the Sulky, the horse‑and‑carriage emblem was introduced by Céline in the late 1960s as a nod to the house’s equestrian heritage. It became a hallmark on leather goods through the 1970s–80s and has been revisited in modern collections, making this design a true piece of brand history.

Q: What typically fits inside this bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 27 × 17 × 6 cm, it comfortably carries a long wallet, large smartphone, keys, compact or lipstick, and sunglasses in a soft case. Slim A6 notebooks/diaries fit; larger items like an iPad mini or A5 diary are generally too tall for the interior height.

Q: Is it a shoulder or crossbody bag?
A: This vintage model features a single flat shoulder strap with an approximate 35 cm drop, intended for shoulder wear. It is not designed for crossbody use and the strap is not detachable.

Q: How secure is the closure?
A: The flap closes with the signature Horse Carriage buckle, providing a secure and elegant fastening. The structured silhouette helps keep contents in place during daily wear.

Q: How is the interior organised?
A: The interior is lined in black leather with multiple compartments and one internal zipped pocket, making it easy to separate essentials like a phone, cards, and keys.

Q: How should I care for the leather and hardware?
A: Wipe the leather gently with a soft, dry cloth after use and avoid water, oils, and harsh cleaners. Apply a neutral leather conditioner sparingly a few times per year to maintain suppleness, and store the bag lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag away from direct sunlight. Hardware is gold‑tone and may show light surface scratches; avoid metal polishes and abrasive cloths. For deep cleaning or colour touch‑ups, consult a professional handbag care service.

Q: How are vintage Céline bags authenticated—do they have serial numbers?
A: Vintage Céline typically uses production/date codes rather than unique serial numbers. These codes may be stamped on a leather tab and can repeat across items. Every piece at A Retro Tale is authenticated by our in‑house experts using multi‑point inspections of materials, construction, heat‑stamps and hardware; details can be provided on request.

Q: Which era is this design from?
A: The Horse Carriage line is most associated with the 1970s–1990s, when the Sulky motif was widely used on bags and small leather goods. Without a visible production code, an exact year cannot be confirmed, but this piece is a vintage, made‑in‑Italy example.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This listing states no accessories are included. If an item such as a dust bag or authenticity card is not listed in the Accessories section, it is not included—please contact us if you would like clarification.

Q: What is the condition like in person?
A: Overall good vintage condition: the exterior and interior leather show scratches and scuffs consistent with age and use, and the hardware is shiny with light surface marks. The bag remains fully functional and presents beautifully for regular wear.
