Q: What makes the Chanel 2.55 Reissue different from the Classic Flap?
A: The 2.55 Reissue stays closer to Gabrielle Chanel’s original 1955 design, so it features the rectangular Mademoiselle turn-lock and an all-metal chain rather than the interlocking CC clasp and leather-woven chain seen on the Classic Flap. This gives it a more understated, heritage-inspired look.

Q: What size is the 225, and what typically fits inside?
A: This bag measures approximately 25 x 15 x 7 cm, making it a practical day-to-evening size. It will typically hold a phone, a compact or small wallet, keys, lipstick, sunglasses and a few small daily essentials. Capacity depends on the shape of what you carry, so the Measurements on this page are the best guide.

Q: Can this specific bag be worn cross-body?
A: This item has a listed strap drop of 28 cm, so it is best suited to shoulder wear rather than a true cross-body fit for most people. The Reissue line is often praised for versatile wear, but the stated measurements on this particular piece suggest a shoulder bag fit.

Q: What does double flap mean on this model?
A: Double flap means the bag has an outer flap and a second inner flap beneath it. This construction adds structure and security, and it is one of the signature features collectors often look for in the 2.55 Reissue line.

Q: What does the serial number 25****** tell me?
A: A Chanel serial number beginning with 25 indicates production in 2018. On this item, the serial number is present and listed in the product information as 25****** (2018).

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This piece includes the box, dust bag and serial number, as listed in the product information. If another item is not listed there, it should not be assumed to be included.

Q: What is the condition of this bag?
A: The exterior is listed as very good with light signs of use, the interior as very good with light traces of use, and the hardware as shiny with light scratches. Overall, it presents as a well-kept pre-owned piece with gentle wear.

Q: How should I care for the light green quilted leather?
A: Avoid overfilling the bag, prolonged sunlight, moisture and colour transfer from dark clothing. Store it upright in its dust bag, ideally lightly stuffed to help maintain shape, and wipe it gently with a soft cloth only. With lighter leather tones, extra care around denim and heavily dyed fabrics is especially wise.

Q: How do you authenticate Chanel bags like this one?
A: At A Retro Tale, items are vetted by in-house experts using a multi-point review of details such as materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and serial information. For buyers, the serial number, correct Reissue design details and overall construction are all important checkpoints.
