Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel Classic Single Full Flap Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 23 × 18 × 6 cm, this small-sized bag is best suited to daily essentials such as a phone, compact wallet or cardholder, keys, lipstick, and a few slim personal items. It is not ideal for bulkier pieces like a tablet, large purse, or water bottle. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for the exact dimensions.

Q: Can this bag be worn crossbody?
A: This bag has a strap drop of approximately 45 cm, so it is generally best worn on the shoulder. On some petite frames it may sit as a short crossbody, but for most wearers it will feel more natural as a shoulder bag.

Q: What is the difference between a Chanel Single Flap and a Double Flap?
A: A Single Flap has one main flap layer, which makes it lighter and easier to access. A Double Flap has an additional inner flap that adds structure, but it can feel heavier and slightly reduces usable interior space. Many collectors like vintage Single Flap bags for their lighter feel and practicality.

Q: Is this the same as a Chanel 2.55 Reissue?
A: No. The Classic Flap line is Chanel's later evolution of the original flap concept, while the 2.55 Reissue refers back more directly to Coco Chanel's 1955 design. Collectors usually distinguish the two by their hardware and chain details, as well as their overall feel and era-specific design codes.

Q: What does the serial number 0****** mean?
A: A Chanel serial number beginning with 0 and shown in this format is consistent with production from 1986 to 1988. That places this bag in an early vintage Chanel period, which is especially sought after by collectors of older flap bags.

Q: Does this item come with an authenticity card?
A: Yes. As noted in the product information, this item includes the serial number and authenticity card. If any additional item is not listed in the product information, it should not be assumed to be included.

Q: What is the condition of this bag?
A: This bag is in very good vintage condition overall. The exterior shows visible scuffing on the corners and marks on the leather, the interior has a light trace of use, and the hardware remains shiny with light scratches and some tarnishing. As with all vintage Chanel bags, light age-related wear is part of its character.

Q: How should I care for this vintage Chanel leather bag?
A: Avoid overfilling it, and keep it away from prolonged sunlight, moisture, perfume, and other chemicals. Wipe it gently with a soft cloth, and store it upright in a soft pouch or breathable dust bag with the chain protected to help preserve the leather and shape. For deeper cleaning or conditioning, a professional leather specialist is the safest choice for a vintage piece.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by in-house experts using detailed checks of materials, construction, hardware, stamps, and serial details. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide further product information on request.
