Q: Are these suitable for non‑pierced ears?
A: Yes. They feature a classic clip‑on fastening that secures to the earlobe without the need for piercings. They can also be worn if you have pierced ears—simply position the clip over the fleshiest part of the lobe for comfort and hold.

Q: Will clip‑on earrings hurt or slip off?
A: Comfort and grip depend on correct placement, clip tension and weight. If needed, add silicone cushion pads or discreet earlobe support patches and make tiny tension adjustments so they feel snug but not pinching. Start with shorter wear times and increase gradually.

Q: Can the clip tension be adjusted?
A: Most paddle/hinge‑type clips allow very small adjustments. Gently squeeze to tighten or open slightly to loosen, checking the fit each time. If you’re unsure, ask a jeweller to fine‑tune the clips to avoid stressing the plating or hinges.

Q: Are they heavy?
A: They are a medium‑sized dangling style at approximately 3.5 × 2.5 cm. Actual weight can vary; if you have sensitive lobes, consider using cushion pads or support patches. We’re happy to provide the exact gram weight on request.

Q: Are these solid gold?
A: No. The earrings are gold‑tone costume jewellery, meaning a gold‑coloured finish over a base metal rather than solid gold. Treat them gently to preserve the finish.

Q: How should I care for vintage gold‑tone earrings?
A: After each wear, wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Keep away from water, perfume and hairspray, and avoid soaking or ultrasonic cleaners. Store separately in a soft pouch to prevent scratches and plating wear.

Q: Can clip‑on earrings be converted for pierced ears?
A: Non‑permanent earring converters are available for many styles and are a good option if you prefer posts. Permanent alterations should be done by a professional and may affect collectability; we recommend using converters to keep the piece original.

Q: How do I know they’re authentic Dior?
A: Vintage Dior costume jewellery typically has stamped signatures on the back or clip (for example, Chr. Dior) and may include marks such as Germany or West Germany on pieces from certain eras. At A Retro Tale, every item is comprehensively authenticated by our in‑house experts before listing.

Q: Why do these Dior earrings say Germany?
A: Many vintage Dior costume pieces were produced under licence in Germany by renowned manufacturer Henkel & Grossé, so German hallmarks are correct for numerous mid‑to‑late 20th‑century designs.

Q: What’s included with this pair?
A: The listing states no accessories. Everything included is shown under Accessories on this page—if a Dior box, pads or extras are not listed there, they are not included.
