Q: What typically fits inside the Christian Dior Trotter Messenger Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 32 × 27 × 5 cm, it comfortably carries a large smartphone, continental wallet or compact purse, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case and a small cosmetics pouch. An 11-inch tablet usually fits; A4 papers can fit when placed horizontally. A slim 13-inch laptop may fit without a bulky sleeve but will be snug due to the 5 cm depth—please compare your device’s dimensions or ask us for a tailored fit check for this exact piece.

Q: Is the strap adjustable and can I wear it crossbody?
A: Yes. This bag has a single adjustable shoulder strap. The listed strap drop is approximately 48 cm, allowing comfortable shoulder wear and a mid-to-high crossbody fit on most frames. If you’d like specific guidance for your height or layered outfits, just ask and we’ll advise.

Q: How secure is the closure and what is the interior layout?
A: It features a flap-top closure over one main compartment, lined in blue fabric with one internal pocket. For commuting, we recommend keeping the bag upright and using a small zip pouch for valuables inside.

Q: What is Dior’s “Trotter/Oblique” jacquard?
A: It’s Dior’s iconic monogram pattern woven into a durable jacquard fabric, often referred to as “Oblique” or “Trotter.” This piece is crafted in blue Dior monogram jacquard with leather trim—an enduring House signature seen across many vintage collections.

Q: Is this messenger style still produced?
A: This configuration is considered vintage and is primarily found on the pre-loved market rather than in current boutique production. Our listing notes this piece as vintage.

Q: Where would I find the Dior date/production code, and how do you authenticate?
A: Authentic Dior bags typically have an interior leather tag stamped “Christian Dior PARIS” with the country of origin; the date/production code is usually embossed on the back of this tag or on a small leather tab inside a pocket. Placement and format vary by era. Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi-point authentication by our in-house experts; we’re happy to locate and photograph the code for this exact piece on request.

Q: How should I care for the Oblique/Trotter jacquard canvas and leather trim?
A: Gently dust the fabric with a clean, soft brush or microfibre cloth; avoid soaking the textile or using harsh chemicals. If it becomes lightly damp, blot (don’t rub) and allow to air-dry away from heat. Keep it away from abrasive surfaces to prevent snags and be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim. Condition the leather trim sparingly with a suitable neutral product after spot-testing. Store the bag upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag.

Q: Will the jacquard fabric fray or snag with use?
A: The woven jacquard is robust for everyday wear, but like any textile it can snag on rough edges or hardware. Avoid rubbing against abrasive garments; if a loose fibre appears, trim carefully with fine scissors rather than pulling.

Q: What condition is this specific piece in?
A: Overall Very Good vintage condition. The exterior canvas shows a tear on one corner; the interior has light signs of use; and the silver-toned hardware remains shiny with surface scratches. Please review our photos and condition notes for a close look.

Q: What accessories are included?
A: This item is sold as the bag only; no additional accessories are included unless explicitly listed under “Accessories.” For this listing, the Accessories field notes “no accessories.”

Q: Can you help with repairs or freshening up a vintage Dior?
A: Yes. Boutique services are subject to assessment and parts availability, and many clients also use reputable independent luxury repair specialists for cleaning, stitch or piping work and hardware refinishing. We’re happy to advise on suitable options in your location and how best to preserve the bag’s vintage character.
