RolexDatejust 36mm Ref.1601 Ca 1976 Watch

Q: What model and year is this Rolex?
A: This is a Swiss-made Rolex Datejust, reference 1601, dated approximately 1976. The year is an estimate rather than a confirmed exact production date.

Q: What size is the watch?
A: The case diameter is 36 mm, offering a classic Datejust size. Consider both the case diameter and bracelet fit when deciding whether it suits your wrist.

Q: What wrist size will the bracelet fit?
A: The bracelet is listed as fitting a wrist of 20 cm or smaller. For a smaller wrist, ask about bracelet adjustment before purchasing; additional links are not specified in the product information.

Q: What condition is this vintage Datejust in?
A: The watch is in good overall condition, with light signs of use. Scratches are noted on the case and bracelet, and the internal condition is described as good. It is a pre-owned vintage piece, not a watch in unworn condition.

Q: Does the watch come with a box or papers?
A: A Rolex service receipt dated 2007 is listed in the product information. An original box and original guarantee papers are not listed, so please do not assume they are included.

Q: Has this watch been serviced recently?
A: The supplied documentation includes a Rolex service receipt from 2007. No later service date is provided, so this should not be interpreted as evidence of a recent service. Ask for confirmation of any subsequent maintenance or current timekeeping checks.

Q: Does the Datejust 1601 need a battery?
A: No. The Datejust 1601 uses a self-winding mechanical movement rather than a battery. Wrist movement winds it during wear; if it stops, it can be wound manually using the crown before setting the time.

Q: Does reference 1601 have a quickset date?
A: No. Reference 1601 has a non-quickset date, meaning the date cannot be adjusted independently of the hands. It is advanced by moving the hands forwards through midnight in the time-setting position. Do not force the crown, and ask for a demonstration if you are unfamiliar with vintage Rolex controls.

Q: Can I swim or shower wearing this watch?
A: Current water resistance and pressure-test results are not provided for this individual watch. Do not assume a vintage Datejust retains its original water resistance. Avoid swimming, showering and immersion unless a qualified watchmaker has confirmed its suitability through recent testing.

Q: How should I clean this vintage Rolex?
A: Gently wipe it with a soft microfibre cloth to remove fingerprints and surface dirt. As its current water resistance is unconfirmed, avoid soaking or rinsing it. Leave deeper cleaning and any polishing to a qualified watch professional.
