Q: What collection is this design from and what does the key symbolise?
A: This necklace belongs to the Tiffany Keys family. Tiffany Keys were introduced in 2009 and are widely seen as symbols of new beginnings, independence and optimism—“unlocking” possibilities for the wearer.

Q: What is this piece made from?
A: It is crafted in solid sterling silver (925). Tiffany popularised the .925 sterling silver standard and their silver jewellery typically carries purity and maker hallmarks to indicate authenticity.

Q: Will sterling silver tarnish over time?
A: Yes—tarnish is a natural reaction when silver is exposed to air, humidity, perspiration, chlorine and certain cosmetics or household chemicals. Regular gentle cleaning and sensible storage will keep the shine longer.

Q: How should I clean and care for it at home?
A: Wipe after wear with a soft, lint‑free cloth. For a deeper clean, use a small amount of dedicated silver jewellery cleaner or mild soap in warm water, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid bleach, chlorine and harsh chemicals. Store the necklace dry in a soft pouch or lined box to slow tarnishing.

Q: Can I shower or swim while wearing it?
A: It’s best to remove sterling silver jewellery before showering, swimming or using hot tubs. Chlorine, salt water and sulphur-rich environments accelerate tarnish and can dull the finish.

Q: What is the chain length and how will it sit?
A: The chain on this piece measures approximately 39.5 cm (about 15.5 in). On most necks this sits as a short necklace at the base of the neck; actual drop will vary by build and layering.

Q: Can the length be adjusted?
A: Many Tiffany necklaces can be shortened or lengthened by a professional service, and some wearers use a sterling silver extender for extra length. Results depend on the design and clasp, so consult a jeweller for options if you need a different fit.

Q: Are there hallmarks I should expect to see?
A: Authentic Tiffany sterling silver jewellery typically bears clear, well‑struck “Tiffany & Co.” and “925” marks; stamp style and placement can vary by era and country of sale. On necklaces you’ll often find marks on the pendant bail and/or near the clasp.

Q: Is sterling silver suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver, with the balance usually copper rather than nickel. Many people with nickel sensitivity tolerate sterling silver well, though individual reactions vary. If you’re highly sensitive, consider a patch test and keep the piece clean and dry against the skin.

Q: What accessories are included and how is authenticity assured?
A: This listing includes no accessories (box, pouch or papers are not included unless stated). Every item at A Retro Tale is thoroughly vetted by our experts using multi‑point checks. Note that Tiffany & Co. does not authenticate merchandise purchased through third‑party sellers; our in‑house authentication underpins this piece.
