Q: What materials are these Chanel hoop earrings made from?
A: Chanel costume jewellery typically combines plated metal with decorative elements such as glass imitation pearls and strass (crystals). This pair features gold‑tone metal with floral details, faux pearls and crystals, as listed on this page.

Q: Are the pearls real?
A: No. For costume jewellery, Chanel uses imitation glass pearls rather than cultured pearls. This is a long‑standing design choice in the House’s fashion jewellery collections and is often described on Chanel product pages as glass pearls with strass accents.

Q: Are these for pierced ears or clip‑on?
A: This style has a post‑back closure for pierced ears. Chanel offers both clip‑on and pierced options in its collections, but this particular pair is designed for pierced ears.

Q: Will the gold‑tone finish tarnish or wear over time?
A: As with all plated costume jewellery, surface wear can develop with exposure to air, moisture, skin acidity, perfumes and lotions. To keep the finish looking its best, avoid contact with water and cosmetics, remove before bathing or exercising, and store the earrings dry in their box or dust bag when not in use.

Q: How should I clean and care for the pearls and crystals?
A: After each wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or harsh chemicals. Put jewellery on last (after fragrance, hair products and makeup) and take it off first to minimise contact with products that can dull pearls and loosen crystals.

Q: Are they heavy to wear?
A: Hoop styles like this are generally comfortable for most wearers, but sensitivity varies. If you have delicate lobes, consider using larger support backs or silicone discs for extra lift and comfort, and limit wear time if needed.

Q: Are they hypoallergenic or nickel‑free?
A: Chanel costume jewellery may contain base‑metal alloys beneath the plating and is not advertised as nickel‑free. If you have sensitive ears or a known nickel allergy, consider short wear periods, barrier discs, or consulting a jeweller about hypoallergenic backs. For highly sensitive ears, fine‑jewellery metals (such as titanium or platinum) are generally better tolerated.

Q: How can I tell if Chanel earrings are authentic?
A: Authentic pieces show high‑quality construction and may feature period‑specific Chanel stamps or plaques (e.g., an oval cartouche with Chanel/Made in France/season marks). Stamps alone aren’t definitive; overall craftsmanship and materials matter. Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully authenticated by our in‑house experts; contact us if you’d like close‑ups of any hallmarks.

Q: Can Chanel repair missing crystals or worn plating?
A: Chanel boutiques may offer after‑sales assistance for costume jewellery, including cleaning and certain repairs, subject to parts availability and assessment. Availability varies by boutique and season; we recommend contacting your local Chanel boutique to discuss options.

Q: What are the measurements and what’s included?
A: Approx. 3 cm high × 0.6 cm wide × 1.8 cm deep. This item comes with the box and dust bag as listed under Accessories on this page.
