Q: Are these Tiffany & Co Elsa Peretti Teardrop Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What are they made from? Are they solid gold?
A: Elsa Peretti Teardrop earrings have been produced by Tiffany & Co in both 18k yellow gold and sterling silver across different seasons. This vintage pair is described as yellow gold‑tone with a hook closure; please review the close‑up photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm the exact metal and hallmarks for this piece.

Q: What are the measurements and how will they sit on the ear?
A: This pair is listed at approximately 2.5 cm (height) x 0.7 cm (width) x 1.0 cm (depth). On most wearers, a 2.5 cm drop sits just below the lobe with refined, subtle movement. If you’d like the precise gram weight or a photo on ear for scale, just ask and we’ll provide it.

Q: How do they fasten and are they secure?
A: They feature a hook closure for pierced ears. Insert the hook through the piercing and ensure it sits snugly; you may add small silicone stoppers on the back for extra security. Avoid hard impacts and check that the wire is properly aligned before use. A jeweller can gently adjust tension for comfort if needed.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on Elsa Peretti earrings?
A: Tiffany fine jewellery typically bears the TIFFANY & CO signature, the designer’s name (ELSA PERETTI) and a metal fineness mark (e.g., 750 for 18k gold or 925 for sterling silver). Depending on the era, there may also be a country of origin stamp (e.g., Spain or USA). Our listing photos show any stamps present on this pair.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive ears?
A: Sensitivities vary by individual. Many people find solid precious metals like 18k yellow gold comfortable, while sterling silver is usually alloyed with copper. If you have metal allergies, keep the earrings dry, monitor comfort and discontinue wear if irritation occurs. We’re happy to advise further.

Q: How should I care for 18k gold or sterling silver teardrop earrings?
A: Keep them dry and away from perfume, hairspray, lotions and hand sanitiser. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and warm water, then dry thoroughly. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and chemical dips—especially on vintage pieces. Store individually in a pouch or box to minimise scratches.

Q: Can Tiffany service or polish these earrings?
A: Tiffany & Co offers professional cleaning, polishing and servicing at their discretion, including support for many vintage designs. We can also recommend reputable specialists. Please note that any modification may affect originality and resale value—contact us if you’d like guidance before proceeding.

Q: Are they suitable for daily wear and how should I style them?
A: The sculptural teardrop silhouette is a timeless everyday choice that transitions easily from day to evening. For a cohesive look, match metals and pair with other minimal pieces—Peretti pendants or slim bangles complement them beautifully while keeping the earrings as the focal point.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return them?
A: This pair is in Very Good Condition, with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. This listing includes no accessories unless specifically shown or stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
