Q: Is this Chanel Coco Mark Holly Leaf Necklace authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is the metal solid silver?
A: Chanel costume jewellery is typically crafted from plated base metal with a silver‑tone finish, often accented by imitation (faux) pearls and glass elements. This necklace is described as silver‑toned with CC and holly leaf details featuring a faux pearl. It is not solid sterling silver unless explicitly stated.

Q: What are the measurements and how will it sit when worn?
A: The necklace perimeter is approximately 48 cm. On most wearers this sits around the collarbone/high décolletage. The pendant is listed at about 1.0 cm (height) x 1.0 cm (width) x 0.4 cm (depth). If you’d like the precise drop length or chain width, contact us and we’ll measure it for you.

Q: How does it fasten? Is it adjustable?
A: It features an adjustable lobster clasp closure, allowing minor length tweaks for comfort and layering. A jeweller can add a short extender if you prefer a longer drop.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a vintage Chanel necklace?
A: Most vintage Chanel pieces have an oval or round plaque stamped CHANEL, often with “Made in France/Italy” and a season code. Placement and format vary by era. Our listing photos show any stamps present on this necklace, which is noted as France.

Q: Are the pearls real? What are Chanel’s “imitation pearls”?
A: Chanel’s fashion jewellery typically uses imitation pearls—usually glass or resin cores coated to emulate nacre—giving uniform colour and lustre. The pearl detail on this piece is described as faux pearl.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: Costume jewellery alloys can contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider wearing the necklace over clothing, applying a clear barrier to contact points, and keeping the skin dry. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: How should I care for the silver‑tone plating and faux pearl details?
A: Keep it dry and away from perfume, lotions, hairspray and hand sanitiser. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store it individually in a pouch/box, away from humidity and direct sunlight, to preserve colour and lustre.

Q: Can it be resized, repaired, or replated?
A: A competent jeweller can add an extender, adjust/replace a clasp, and perform light replating if ever needed. Avoid abrasive polishes; professional cleaning is recommended for plated fashion jewellery. Note that alterations can affect originality and resale value—ask us if you’d like recommendations.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This necklace is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. This listing includes a box. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
