Q: Are these Georg Jensen Carnelian Silver Clip‑on Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What are they made from? Are the stones real carnelian?
A: This pair is described as sterling silver (commonly 92.5% pure silver) set with genuine carnelian gemstones. Please review the close‑up photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm any specific hallmarks on this piece.

Q: What are the measurements and how will they sit on the ear?
A: They are listed at approximately 1.8 cm (height) x 1.3 cm (width) x 1.0 cm (depth). This size offers a refined presence on the lobe without feeling overpowering. If you’d like the exact gram weight or an on‑ear photo for scale, just ask and we’ll provide it.

Q: Do clip‑on earrings work for non‑pierced and pierced ears? Are they comfortable?
A: Yes—clip‑on closures are designed for non‑pierced ears and can be worn comfortably by those with pierced ears as well. For comfort and a secure fit, you can add soft silicone or felt pads to the clips and have a jeweller lightly adjust clip tension if needed.

Q: Can these clip‑ons be converted to posts for pierced ears?
A: A competent jeweller can often convert clip‑ons to posts or lever backs, but suitability depends on the specific construction. Any modification may affect originality and resale value. If you’re considering this, contact us and we can recommend reputable specialists.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect on Georg Jensen earrings?
A: Typical marks include the GEORG JENSEN signature (often within an oval cartouche), a fineness mark such as “925 S” or “STERLING,” “DENMARK,” and sometimes a design number or designer initials. Our listing photos show any stamps present on this pair.

Q: How should I care for sterling silver and carnelian?
A: Keep the earrings dry and away from perfume, lotions and cleaning chemicals. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; use a non‑abrasive silver polishing cloth on the metal only. Avoid ultrasonic or chemical dips and store the earrings individually in a pouch or box to prevent scratches.

Q: Is sterling silver nickel‑free and suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Sterling silver is typically alloyed with copper and is generally nickel‑free, though sensitivities vary by individual. If you have allergies, monitor comfort, keep the area dry, and discontinue wear if irritation occurs.

Q: How durable is carnelian? Will it chip or scratch easily?
A: Carnelian, a variety of chalcedony, is moderately hard (around 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale) and suitable for regular jewellery wear. It can still scratch or chip if knocked, so avoid hard impacts and store carefully.

Q: Can a jeweller service or polish these earrings if needed?
A: Yes—a jeweller can perform light silver polishing, safe cleaning and clip‑tension adjustments. Any work should be gentle around the stones to preserve their finish and the earrings’ vintage character.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return them?
A: They are in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. This listing includes no accessories unless specifically stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
