Q: What size is a Hermès Carré/Shawl 140 and how does this piece compare?
A: The Carré/Shawl 140 is typically around 140 x 140 cm (about 55 x 55 in). Because Hermès hems are hand‑rolled, slight variations are normal. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for the exact size of this specific scarf.

Q: What is the fabric composition and how does it feel?
A: Hermès 140 shawls are usually a cashmere and silk blend (commonly 70% cashmere, 30% silk) with hand‑rolled edges. The handle is soft, light and warm with a more matte finish than pure silk twill, making it comfortable across seasons.

Q: Who designed Chorus Stellarum and what is the theme?
A: Chorus Stellarum is a contemporary motif by Daiske Nomura. It features starry, celestial elements woven into Hermès’ equestrian universe. Colourways vary by season; we photograph the actual item so you can see the exact palette on offer here.

Q: How can I style a 140 cashmere–silk Hermès scarf?
A: This larger format is very versatile: drape it as a shawl, loop once as a cosy wrap, bias‑fold and knot at the neck, style as a headscarf, or belt it over outerwear. Many clients also fold it into a generous triangle for an easy “cowboy” knot. Experiment to suit your outfit and climate.

Q: Is this scarf unisex?
A: Yes. The 140 cashmere–silk format suits all genders and works well over tailoring, knitwear or outerwear. The generous size provides warmth without bulk and can be styled in many ways.

Q: How should I care for cashmere–silk Hermès scarves?
A: Avoid contact with rain, water, perfumes and cosmetics. Follow the care label and use a trusted specialist dry cleaner when cleaning is necessary. Between wears, air the scarf, fold it loosely and store it flat in a breathable pouch away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Q: Do cashmere–silk Hermès scarves pill?
A: Some light pilling can occur with wear due to the cashmere fibres—this is normal for this blend. To refresh, lay the scarf flat and gently remove surface pills with a quality cashmere comb or a fabric depiller on the lightest setting, using light, single‑direction strokes and avoiding the hand‑rolled edges.

Q: Are the edges hand‑rolled?
A: Yes. Hermès scarves and shawls feature hand‑rolled and hand‑stitched hems, a hallmark of the Maison’s craftsmanship. Because this is done by hand, minor variations in size and roll are expected and part of the piece’s character.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This listing includes the scarf only, as noted in the Accessories section. If an item like a box, ribbon or care booklet is not listed there, it is not included. Please contact us if you need clarification before purchase.

Q: How do you authenticate this Hermès scarf?
A: Every piece at A Retro Tale is carefully examined by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of fabric, print quality, hem construction, labels and stamps, and overall workmanship. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to share additional photos or details on request.
