Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Marais Bucket?
A: With approximate measurements of 24 × 24 × 16 cm, it comfortably carries a large smartphone, continental wallet, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, a small cosmetics pouch, compact umbrella and a 330–500 ml water bottle. A5 notebooks usually fit; A4 documents and laptops generally do not. If you’d like a tailored fit check for a specific device, just ask and we’ll test this exact bag.

Q: Will it fit a tablet or e‑reader?
A: Compact tablets and e‑readers can fit, but 11‑inch tablets are typically too tall for the 24 cm height, especially with cases. Slim devices fare best. Share your device’s dimensions and we’ll confirm the fit for this piece.

Q: Are the shoulder straps adjustable? Can it be worn crossbody?
A: Yes—the Marais features dual adjustable flat shoulder straps to fine‑tune the drop for comfortable shoulder carry. It’s not designed for crossbody wear; the straps are intended for shoulder use only.

Q: How secure is the opening and what is the interior layout?
A: The Marais has an open‑top design for easy access. Inside, this piece features a red Alcantara (microfibre) lining with two internal zipped pockets to secure valuables. We recommend keeping the bag upright or using a small organiser/pouch for added security when commuting.

Q: Did some Marais versions include a pouch?
A: Some examples were sold with an interior or attached pouch; others were not. Everything included with this exact item appears under “Accessories.” This listing states “no accessories,” so it is sold as the bag only.

Q: What materials is this model made from, and how durable is it?
A: It’s crafted from Louis Vuitton’s Damier Ebene coated canvas with dark brown treated leather trim and gold‑tone hardware, lined in red Alcantara. Coated canvas is lightweight and highly durable for everyday use; treated Ebene leather is relatively rain‑tolerant compared with untreated vachetta, though the bag is not waterproof.

Q: How should I care for the canvas, leather and Alcantara lining?
A: Wipe coated canvas with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry promptly. For the treated leather, use a soft dry cloth and condition sparingly with a quality neutral product only if needed (test first on a discreet area). Keep away from heavy rain, oils and prolonged sunlight, and be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim. For Alcantara, lint‑roll or gently brush to remove dust; for light marks, blot (don’t rub) with a damp cloth and allow to air‑dry away from heat. Store upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag.

Q: Is the Marais still produced?
A: The Marais is a vintage, discontinued style most commonly seen from the late 1990s to early 2000s. It’s now found on the pre‑loved market rather than in current boutiques.

Q: Where is the date code located and how is dating handled?
A: On Alcantara‑lined vintage LV bags, the date code is often stamped directly into the lining and can fade with wear. Louis Vuitton began phasing out visible date codes around 2021 in favour of embedded microchips, but as a vintage piece this bag may have a stamped code. We’re happy to help you locate and interpret it if present.

Q: Is there a risk of sticky pockets on vintage LV bags?
A: Some older LV models used a coated pocket lining that can degrade over time. Many Marais examples feature Alcantara with zipped pockets, which generally ages well. We inspect for any stickiness and disclose it when present—this bag is graded Very Good with only light traces of use.

Q: What is the condition and what accessories are included with this specific bag?
A: This item is in Very Good condition with light signs of use on the exterior and interior; the hardware is shiny with light scratches. It is delivered with no accessories. Please review our photos and the Condition notes for the most accurate representation of wear.

Q: How do you authenticate this item?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, including checks of canvas, leather, stitching, hardware, stamps and date code/microchip where applicable. We stand behind the authenticity of every piece we sell.
