Q: Is the Thames PM still in production?
A: The Thames line has been discontinued by Louis Vuitton and is now available primarily on the pre‑owned market. This piece is a vintage model from 2008 based on its date code.

Q: What are the measurements of this bag and the strap drop?
A: Approx. 33 cm (W) × 17 cm (H) × 6 cm (D) with an adjustable shoulder strap of about 25 cm drop. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for the exact figures for this item.

Q: What typically fits inside the Thames PM?
A: Daily essentials such as a long continental wallet, smartphone, keys, compact sunglasses case, small cosmetic pouch and a passport will fit comfortably. Larger tablets or A5 notebooks may be a tight fit due to the bag’s curved profile and 17 cm height.

Q: Can it be worn crossbody?
A: The Thames PM is designed as a shoulder bag. While the strap is adjustable, it is generally not long enough for a comfortable crossbody carry on most people.

Q: Is the shoulder strap removable?
A: No. The strap is fixed to the bag and is not detachable, though it does adjust for length.

Q: What is it made from and how durable is it?
A: It features Louis Vuitton’s Damier Ebene coated canvas with treated brown leather trim and brass hardware. Coated canvas is known for being lightweight and hard‑wearing for everyday use when cared for appropriately.

Q: How should I care for Damier Ebene coated canvas and leather trim?
A: Wipe the canvas with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry gently; avoid harsh cleaners, solvents or conditioners on the canvas. Keep leather trim away from water and oils, and avoid prolonged heat or direct sunlight. Store the bag lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag and avoid over‑packing to maintain its shape.

Q: What does the date code AR0098 mean?
A: AR indicates France as the country of manufacture. For bags from 2007–2020, the first and third digits show the week and the second and fourth digits show the year; AR0098 corresponds to the 9th week of 2008. Note that date codes are not unique serial numbers and are just one data point in assessing authenticity.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under product information on this page. For this listing, no additional items are included unless explicitly stated.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes multi‑point authentication by our in‑house specialists, who examine materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and date codes to ensure authenticity; we stand behind every piece we sell.
