Q: Is the Keepall 45 accepted as cabin baggage?
A: In general, yes. Many airlines allow cabin bags up to around 55 × 35 × 25 cm. This Keepall measures approximately 45 × 27 × 20 cm, which typically meets those limits. Policies vary by carrier and route, so please check your airline before travelling.

Q: What typically fits inside the Keepall 45?
A: It suits 2–3 days of essentials: a change of outfits, a pair of shoes, toiletry pouch, chargers, and a 13–14 inch laptop in a protective sleeve. Capacity depends on how you pack—refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Does this bag come with a shoulder strap?
A: This is the classic handheld Keepall 45. Only the Bandoulière versions are designed with strap hardware and a detachable shoulder strap. Everything included with this item is listed in the product information; this piece does not include a strap.

Q: What is Epi leather and why choose it for travel?
A: Epi is Louis Vuitton’s textured, dyed-through cowhide noted for its structured feel and excellent resistance to everyday scratches and light moisture. It keeps its shape well and is a durable choice for frequent travel while remaining understated and elegant.

Q: How should I care for vintage Epi leather?
A: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid solvents, soaps, and conditioners not specifically recommended for fine leather. Store loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag, away from heat and direct sunlight. For a light vintage odour, air the bag in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space—avoid fragranced sprays directly on the leather.

Q: Does this Epi Keepall have an exterior pocket?
A: Yes. This edition features a practical exterior slip pocket ideal for travel documents and other slim essentials you need quickly to hand.

Q: Where would I find a date code on a vintage Keepall, and what if I don’t see one?
A: Many vintage Louis Vuitton pieces include a stamped date code indicating place and period of manufacture, often on a small leather tab inside or along a seam. In recent years the Maison transitioned to embedded microchips (no visible code) on newer pieces. As this is a vintage item, a code may be present or faint with age—contact us if you’d like us to locate or confirm it.

Q: What items are included with this bag?
A: According to the product information, this piece comes with a luggage tag and a handle keeper (poignet). Items such as a padlock, keys, dust bag, or box are only included if specifically listed in the product information.

Q: What is Cipango Gold, and will the colour look the same in person?
A: Cipango Gold is a classic 1990s Epi shade in the brown–gold family. As with all textured leathers, colour can appear lighter or deeper depending on lighting and screen settings. Our photos aim to be as accurate as possible, but minor variation is normal.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this item?
A: Every piece is carefully inspected by our in-house experts using multi-point checks of materials, stitching, heat stamps, hardware, and construction, supported by date code and era review where applicable. We stand behind the authenticity of every item we sell and are happy to share further details on request.
