Q: What is this necklace made from and how is it fastened?
A: It is crafted in sterling silver with a ribbon motif pendant and secures with a spring ring closure. The chain measures approximately 44 cm in length.

Q: Where will a 44 cm necklace sit on the neck, and is it adjustable?
A: Around 44 cm (about 17.3 in) typically sits near the collarbone for many wearers, between the common 40.5 cm (16 in) and 45.7 cm (18 in) lengths. This chain is a fixed length; if you prefer a different drop, a jeweller’s extender can be added or the chain can be swapped to a preferred length.

Q: Does sterling silver tarnish and how can I minimise it?
A: Yes, sterling silver can tarnish when exposed to humidity, perspiration, salt air, chlorine and sulphur-containing products. Minimise tarnish by wearing your jewellery regularly, keeping it dry, avoiding contact with chemicals (cleaners, lotions, perfumes), and storing it in a dry, tarnish-resistant pouch or box when not in use.

Q: How should I clean this necklace at home?
A: Gently rub with a quality silver polishing cloth or a small amount of silver jewellery cleaner on a soft cloth, then rinse in warm water and dry carefully. Avoid bleach, chlorine and harsh abrasives. Over-polishing should be avoided to preserve the finish.

Q: Can Tiffany & Co clean or polish this vintage piece?
A: Tiffany boutiques offer in-store cleaning and care services. Cleanings for gold and platinum are complimentary, while sterling silver services are available for a fee and by appointment; pricing depends on the piece and scope of work.

Q: Is it okay to wear sterling silver in the shower or pool?
A: It’s best to remove the necklace before showering, swimming or using hot tubs/saunas. Chlorine, salt water and certain cosmetics accelerate tarnishing and can dull the finish over time.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything that comes with the necklace is listed under product information for this listing. If a branded box or pouch is not stated there, it is not included with this piece.

Q: How do you authenticate this Tiffany & Co necklace?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully vetted by our in-house experts using multi-point checks of materials, craftsmanship, stamps and overall construction, supported by specialist tools and experience with vintage Tiffany pieces. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide further details on request.

Q: What is the condition of this necklace?
A: Very Good condition with light traces of use. The silver remains bright and the hardware is shiny with light surface scratches consistent with careful wear.
