Q: What are the dimensions and how does it wear on clothing?
A: The brooch measures approximately 5 × 3.5 × 1 cm, making it a versatile size for blazers, coats and medium‑weight knits. For very light or delicate fabrics, pin through a seam or doubled fabric and consider a small locking pin back for extra security.

Q: Is this solid gold or gold‑plated?
A: This is a vintage Christian Dior costume jewellery piece in gold‑tone plating over base metal, not solid gold. Dior fine jewellery is marked with metal fineness (e.g., 18K); costume pieces like this are plated and unmarked for gold purity.

Q: How is vintage Dior jewellery typically signed?
A: Dior signatures vary by era. You may see plaques or stamps reading Christian Dior or Chr. Dior, sometimes with a copyright symbol, a year, and/or Germany. Mark and placement can differ between designs and production years.

Q: Can you tell what era this brooch is from?
A: Many vintage Dior brooches were produced by Henkel & Grossé in Germany from the mid‑1950s into the early 2000s, and some bear a date on the plaque. Without a dated cartouche we cannot assign a precise year, but the construction and signature are consistent with authentic vintage Dior pieces.

Q: How do you authenticate this brooch?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully examined by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, construction, signatures and hardware. We’re happy to provide additional photos of stamps and product information on request.

Q: Will a brooch damage delicate fabrics or snag knits?
A: Any pin can mark very delicate fabrics like silk chiffon or fine lace. To minimise risk, pin through thicker areas (lapels, seams, waistbands), use a small rubber or locking pin back, and avoid stretching open‑weave knits. On ultra‑delicate pieces, consider wearing the brooch on a jacket, hat, scarf, or bag strap instead.

Q: How should I style a CD logo brooch?
A: Classic options include the left blazer lapel, at the shoulder of a knit, grouped with other pins on a coat, securing a scarf, or on a hat or bag strap. Brooches are currently trending and work for all genders; place it where it balances your outfit best.

Q: How do I clean and care for gold‑tone vintage jewellery?
A: Wipe after wear with a soft dry cloth. For a light clean, use a barely damp cloth with a drop of mild soap, then dry immediately. Avoid jewellery dips, ultrasonic cleaners, alcohol, perfumes and hairspray on or near the piece. Store it separately in a soft pouch to prevent scratches and preserve the plating.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information on this page. If an item such as a branded box or pouch is not listed there, it is not included. We photograph what you will receive.

Q: Can the pin mechanism be tightened or repaired if ever needed?
A: Yes. A competent jeweller can adjust a loose pin stem or safety catch, or replace components if worn. We do not recommend bending the pin yourself, as this can stress the metal.
