Q: What is the length and how will it sit on the neck?
A: This piece measures approximately 45 cm in perimeter (about 17.7 inches). On most necks it sits around the collarbone as a classic short necklace. Fit varies by neck size—compare with a favourite necklace or use a soft tape to check 45 cm on your neck.

Q: What type of fastening does it have and is it secure?
A: It features a push‑lock closure. Align the ends and press until it clicks; to remove, press the release while supporting the nearest links to avoid twisting. Keep the clasp clean and dry for smooth, secure operation.

Q: What are the materials?
A: The necklace is a vintage fashion jewellery design with a silver/gunmetal‑toned plated setting embellished with clear rhinestones (glass crystals). Plated finishes and base metals are typical for vintage Givenchy costume pieces and deliver a brilliant look with everyday durability.

Q: How should I clean and care for the rhinestones and finish?
A: After wearing, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak or submerge; trapped moisture can dull foil‑backed stones. For light refresh, use a barely damp cloth on the metal only and keep water away from the backs of the stones; dry thoroughly. Avoid ultrasonic or steam cleaners, alcohol, perfumes, hairspray and lotions. Store separately in a soft pouch to prevent scratches and minimise exposure to humidity.

Q: Can a missing rhinestone be replaced?
A: Yes—skilled jewellers or costume‑jewellery restorers can source and set matching stones. Re‑foiling or precise colour‑matching is specialised and may be more involved and costly, so professional assessment is recommended.

Q: Is it nickel‑free and suitable for sensitive skin?
A: As a vintage plated fashion piece, the exact alloy is unknown and cannot be guaranteed nickel‑free. If you have sensitivities, consider a clear barrier product on contact areas and limit wear time. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Q: How is this necklace authenticated and what marks might I find?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is authenticated by our experts using multi‑point checks. Vintage Givenchy jewellery may bear hallmarks such as “Givenchy”, “Givenchy Paris”, or “Givenchy Paris New York”, with era‑appropriate logos; stamp styles can vary by year. Close‑up photos can be provided on request.

Q: Can the length be adjusted or an extender added?
A: This design does not include an extender. A jeweller may be able to add a short extender near the clasp, but alterations can change the original look and may affect collectability.

Q: What is included with my purchase?
A: The listing includes the necklace itself. Any extras (such as a branded box) would be clearly stated in the product information on this page.
