Q: What is the Hermès Carré 45 ‘Ola Flamenca’ silk scarf?
A: It’s a small square Hermès scarf (often called a Gavroche or Carré 45) crafted from 100% silk twill with hand‑rolled edges. This vintage piece features the ‘Ola Flamenca’ motif in pink and white and is made in France.

Q: What are the dimensions and why can they vary?
A: The listed size is 45 x 45 cm. Because Hermès hems are hand‑rolled, the actual measurement can vary by a centimetre or two—this is normal for authentic pieces.

Q: How can I style a 45 cm Hermès scarf?
A: The Carré 45 is extremely versatile: tie it as a neckerchief, fold it into a petite bandana, wrap it as a headband or hair bow, knot it around a ponytail, style it as a bracelet, or attach it to a bag handle for a pop of colour.

Q: Is this scarf unisex?
A: Yes. Hermès square scarves are timeless, gender‑neutral accessories. The compact 45 cm format works as a chic neckerchief or pocket‑square style for any wardrobe.

Q: What is the condition of this item?
A: It is graded Very Good with a light trace of use. Please review the photos and condition notes to appreciate the specific signs of gentle wear typical of vintage silk.

Q: Does it come with the original box or accessories?
A: No. This listing is delivered with no accessories unless explicitly shown or stated otherwise.

Q: How should I care for and store a Hermès silk scarf?
A: Use professional dry cleaning by a specialist familiar with fine silks. Avoid contact with water, perfumes, hairspray and prolonged sunlight. Store flat or loosely rolled in a cool, dry place, and avoid leaving it tightly knotted to prevent creases.

Q: Can I iron or steam the scarf to remove creases?
A: Yes—use a cool iron on the reverse side with a pressing cloth, or very gentle steam from a short distance. Do not press directly on the hand‑rolled hems, as this can flatten them.

Q: How can I verify authenticity?
A: Hallmarks of authentic Hermès scarves include hand‑rolled, hand‑stitched edges (rolled toward the front), crisp and well‑registered printing with a “Hermès Paris” signature integrated into the design, high‑quality silk twill, and an era‑appropriate care tag. A Retro Tale also performs rigorous multi‑point authentication on every item.

Q: Can I wrap bag handles with a Carré 45 or is a Twilly better?
A: You can wrap handles with a Carré 45, but it will create a fuller look. An Hermès Twilly (about 85 x 5 cm) is narrower and purpose‑made for handle wrapping and slim knots; the Carré 45 offers more coverage and a different aesthetic.
