Q: What typically fits inside the Damier Berkeley?
A: With approximate measurements of 31 × 20 × 20 cm, it comfortably holds a long wallet, phone, keys, small cosmetics pouch, compact umbrella, a 500 ml bottle, and an e‑reader or small tablet. A4 documents or most laptops will not fit flat; please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Is the Berkeley still in production?
A: No. The Berkeley is a discontinued Louis Vuitton model that was especially popular in the late 2000s and is now found on the pre‑owned market.

Q: Does this bag have a shoulder strap?
A: The Berkeley was designed primarily as a handheld satchel with dual rolled, adjustable leather handles. It does not include a long crossbody strap. The handle drop on this piece is about 15 cm, so it can be carried by hand or on the crook of the arm (and may sit on the shoulder for some, depending on build and outfit).

Q: What are the key features and materials?
A: Damier Ebene coated canvas with dark brown leather trim, gold‑tone hardware, a front Inventeur plate, two external side pockets, a top zip closure, red Alcantara lining with slip pockets, and protective base feet for added durability.

Q: How should I care for the Damier Ebene canvas and Alcantara lining?
A: Wipe coated canvas with a soft cloth slightly dampened with water and mild soap, then dry; avoid harsh or alcohol‑based cleaners. Keep leather trim dry and away from prolonged moisture or heat. For the Alcantara lining, gently brush or use a lint roller and spot‑clean sparingly with a mild soap solution, testing first in a discreet area. Store stuffed, upright, in a breathable dust bag.

Q: Is the canvas water‑resistant?
A: Coated canvas offers light water resistance and is practical in everyday use. If exposed to rain, wipe dry promptly and avoid soaking the leather trim or hardware.

Q: Where is the date code on a Berkeley, and what if it’s hard to read?
A: On pre‑2021 Louis Vuitton bags, the date code is typically on a small leather tab or embossed near an interior seam/pocket. Codes can fade over time, which is normal and does not affect authenticity. Newer LV items (from 2021) use an embedded microchip instead of a stamped code; this vintage model may have an illegible code, and we authenticate using comprehensive, multi‑point checks.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything supplied is listed under the product information on this page. For this piece, the product information notes that no additional items are included.

Q: What is the condition of this bag?
A: Very Good overall. There is scuffing on the corners, the lining has some stains, and the gold‑tone hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Please review the photos for a full view of condition details.

Q: How does it carry day‑to‑day?
A: The structured shape, zip closure and side pockets make it a practical daily bag for essentials. The base feet help protect the underside when setting it down, and the adjustable handles allow small tweaks to the carry drop for comfort.
