Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Trousse Toilette 23?
A: As a mid-sized toiletry case (approx. 23 × 15 × 6 cm), it comfortably holds travel-size bottles (up to about 100 ml), deodorant stick, toothbrush and paste, razor, compact make-up, and a slim hairbrush. The elastic holders help keep smaller bottles upright. Capacity varies by how you pack—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Is the interior lining wipeable and suitable for toiletries?
A: Yes. This style features a wipeable beige lining with a slip pocket and elasticated holders designed for easy cleaning. Liquids should be stored in sealed containers. Vintage linings can show staining or become tacky if exposed to heat/humidity; this piece has marks on the lining noted under Condition.

Q: Is the monogram canvas waterproof?
A: Louis Vuitton monogram is a coated canvas that is durable and water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. Wipe spills promptly, avoid alcohol-based cleaners, solvents, oils, or abrasive scrubbing, and dry with a soft microfibre cloth.

Q: Can I use it as a clutch or crossbody bag?
A: It works well as a handheld pouch or organiser inside a tote. It does not have built-in D-rings or a shoulder strap. Some customers use third-party inserts to add strap functionality, but any modification should be done carefully to avoid damage.

Q: How does the Trousse Toilette 23 differ from the Toiletry Pouch 26/19?
A: The Trousse Toilette range is more structured and includes a wipeable interior with elastic holders for bottles, while the Toiletry Pouch styles are simpler open pouches without internal organisers. The 23 size sits between the 19 and 26 in capacity—choose based on how much you need to carry and whether you prefer interior organisation.

Q: What does the date code 881 TH mean?
A: On late‑1980s pieces, the first two digits indicate the year and the last digit the month; the letters show factory location. 881 TH decodes to France, January 1988.

Q: How should I care for the exterior and hardware?
A: Clean the coated canvas with a slightly damp microfibre cloth, then dry immediately. Avoid alcohol-based products and polishes on canvas and hardware to prevent discolouration. Store in a cool, dry place, loosely stuffed to help maintain shape.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information section. For this piece, no extras are listed, so it is sold as shown.

Q: How is authenticity ensured?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully vetted by in-house experts using multi-point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps, and date codes. Further details can be provided on request.
