Q: What defines the Rolex Datejust 36mm Ref. 1601?
A: Produced in 1971, this Ref. 1601 is a definitive example of the vintage Datejust. It features a 36mm stainless steel Oyster case surmounted by a signature fluted bezel crafted from 18k white gold. This elegant contrast is paired with a black dial and the classic stainless steel Jubilee bracelet.

Q: Does this model have a Quickset date?
A: No. This watch is powered by the reliable Rolex Calibre 1570 automatic movement, which is a "non-Quickset" calibre. To adjust the date, you must advance the hour hands continuously through full 24-hour cycles. This mechanical interaction is a distinctive characteristic of vintage Rolex collecting.

Q: Is the crystal sapphire or acrylic?
A: This 1971 model is fitted with an acrylic (plexiglass) crystal. Unlike modern flat sapphire, the acrylic crystal has a tall profile that adds warmth and vintage charm to the dial. It also features the iconic Cyclops lens for date magnification and can be polished to remove light surface scuffs.

Q: Is the watch water-resistant?
A: The Oyster case was originally rated for 100 metres of water resistance. However, as this is a vintage timepiece from 1971, we cannot guarantee the integrity of the original seals. We strongly advise treating the watch as splash-resistant only and avoiding swimming, showering, or submersion.

Q: What is the condition of this specific watch?
A: This piece is in Very Good condition, displaying light traces of use appropriate for its age. The stainless steel case, white gold bezel, and bracelet are shiny with some light scratches, preserving the watch's vintage character.

Q: Will it fit my wrist?
A: The Jubilee bracelet on this specific watch is sized to fit a wrist circumference of up to 17.5cm. It features a fold-over clasp for a secure fit. Please verify your wrist size, as no additional links are included.

Q: What is included with the purchase?
A: This watch is listed as "no accessories," meaning it does not come with the original box or paperwork. It is sold with A Retro Tale's full authentication guarantee and will be delivered in our secure, unbranded packaging.
