Q: What is the Rolex Lady-Datejust 26mm Ref. 69173 (1996)?
A: It’s a classic two‑tone Rolex combining stainless steel with 18ct yellow gold. This vintage 26mm model features a fluted gold bezel, a blue dial with date at 3 o’clock, and a comfortable Jubilee bracelet. It’s automatic (self‑winding) and Swiss‑made, offering refined everyday elegance.

Q: Which movement does it use, and does it have a quickset date?
A: Lady‑Datejust models from this era typically house the automatic Rolex Calibre 2135, which includes a quickset date. Power reserve is around 42 hours. Exact calibre can be confirmed for this specific watch on request.

Q: Is it water‑resistant and suitable for swimming?
A: When new, the Oyster case was rated to 100 metres. However, water resistance on vintage watches cannot be guaranteed without recent gasket replacement and pressure testing. We recommend avoiding swimming or showering unless it has been professionally re‑sealed and tested, and always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before any moisture exposure.

Q: Does it have a sapphire crystal and the Cyclops date magnifier?
A: Most Ref. 69173 examples are fitted with a scratch‑resistant sapphire crystal and Rolex’s Cyclops lens over the date. If you’d like us to verify the crystal specification on this exact piece, please contact us.

Q: How do I set the time and date safely?
A: Unscrew the crown anti‑clockwise. Position 1: wind the watch (about 20–30 turns if it has stopped). Position 2: quickset the date. Position 3: set the time. Avoid changing the date between roughly 8pm and 2am. When finished, push the crown in and screw it down firmly to help maintain water resistance.

Q: What are the materials of the bezel and bracelet?
A: The fluted bezel is crafted from 18ct yellow gold. The Jubilee bracelet is two‑tone, with stainless‑steel outer links and 18ct yellow‑gold centre links, giving a signature look and comfortable wear.

Q: Will it fit my wrist, and can the Jubilee bracelet be resized?
A: The 26mm case suits smaller wrists and anyone who prefers a refined vintage proportion. The Jubilee bracelet can be sized by adding or removing links; additional links may be sourced subject to availability. Share your wrist measurement and we’ll advise on fit and sizing options prior to dispatch.

Q: How does the 26mm Lady‑Datejust compare to the later 28mm?
A: The 26mm has a distinctly vintage elegance and wears smaller, while the 28mm offers a slightly larger dial and modern presence. Choice depends on wrist size and style preference—many collectors appreciate the classic proportions of the 26mm.

Q: What condition should I expect and how should I care for it?
A: This piece is in Very Good vintage condition with light scratches on the case and bracelet; hardware is shiny with signs of wear. Wipe with a soft microfibre cloth, avoid abrasive polishes and harsh chemicals, and keep it away from strong magnets, extreme heat and moisture. Routine servicing every 5–10 years is generally recommended, or sooner if accuracy or water resistance is a concern.
