Q: What exactly is this model?
A: It is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 76080 from 2002 with a 25 mm stainless steel Oyster case, smooth bezel, black dial with baton and Arabic hour markers, sapphire crystal, and a stainless steel Oyster bracelet with folding clasp. It is a time‑only model (no date).

Q: Which movement does it use and is it automatic?
A: Yes. This reference is powered by Rolex’s self‑winding calibre 2230, a robust automatic movement designed for smaller Oyster Perpetual models.

Q: Is it water‑resistant and can I swim with it?
A: When new, Oyster Perpetual models are rated to 100 metres thanks to the Oyster case and screw‑down crown. As this is a 2002 watch, water resistance depends on gasket condition and recent servicing. If you plan to swim, we recommend a pressure test/service first, always ensure the crown is fully screwed down, and avoid hot tubs/saunas.

Q: How do I wind and set the watch if it has stopped?
A: Unscrew the crown to the first position and wind it clockwise at least 25 turns to start. Pull the crown to the next position to set the time, then push the crown back in and screw it down firmly to restore water resistance. Normal wrist wear will keep it wound.

Q: How often should a Rolex like this be serviced?
A: Rolex advises that service intervals can be around 10 years, but frequency depends on age and use; some pre‑owned pieces benefit from service closer to every 5–7 years. Servicing maintains accuracy and restores water resistance.

Q: What does the K‑serial indicate about the production year?
A: A “K” prefix serial typically corresponds to circa 2001–2002 production, which aligns with this watch’s stated year.

Q: What is included with this watch?
A: This piece comes as a full set, including the original box, outer box and papers, as listed in the product information on this page. If an item isn’t listed there, it is not included.

Q: Will it fit my wrist and can the bracelet be adjusted?
A: It is currently sized to fit a wrist up to about 17.5 cm in circumference. The Oyster bracelet can be adjusted by adding or removing links; we recommend professional sizing. Additional links can usually be sourced if needed.

Q: What crystal does it use and how durable is it?
A: The watch features a sapphire crystal, which is highly scratch‑resistant for daily wear. Like all sapphire, it is not completely scratch‑proof and can chip if struck; chips or deep scratches typically require replacement during service.

Q: How do you authenticate this watch?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully verified by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, movement, dial printing, engravings, and serial/reference numbers. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to share additional product information on request.
