Q: Are these suitable for non‑pierced ears?
A: Yes. They feature a classic clip‑on back designed for comfortable wear without piercings. For extra comfort, you can add small silicone cushions to the clip and ensure the tension is properly adjusted by a professional jeweller if needed.

Q: How large are they and how do they sit on the ear?
A: Each earring measures approximately 4 × 4 × 0.5 cm. The flower motif sits as a statement stud on the earlobe, with a central red rhinestone that catches the light beautifully. Please refer to the Measurements and photos on this page for scale.

Q: Will clip‑on earrings hurt or feel tight?
A: Clip‑ons rely on light pressure to stay in place. Most people find them comfortable when the tension is correctly set and worn for sensible intervals. If you have sensitive ears, use silicone pads, avoid wearing them for very long stretches at first, and adjust the fit if they feel too tight.

Q: Can the clip tension be adjusted?
A: Minor adjustments can improve comfort and security, but we recommend having any adjustment done by a trusted jeweller to avoid stressing vintage mechanisms. Do not force the clip yourself, as excessive bending can weaken or break the hinge.

Q: How secure are they for events?
A: With a correct fit they are secure for day‑to‑evening wear. Always check the grip before heading out, avoid tugging by hair or scarves, and consider using clear comfort pads which both cushion and improve grip.

Q: How should I care for the rhinestones and gold‑tone finish?
A: Keep them dry and away from perfumes, hairspray and lotions. Do not soak or use ultrasonic cleaners. Instead, gently dry‑brush dust away and, if needed, lightly wipe with a barely damp soft cloth while keeping moisture away from the back of the stones. Store them separately in a soft pouch to prevent scratches.

Q: Are they hypoallergenic?
A: As vintage gold‑tone costume jewellery, the exact metal composition is not specified and may include base‑metal alloys. If you have metal sensitivities (especially to nickel), we recommend using protective ear pads and limiting wear time; those with very sensitive skin may prefer high‑purity, nickel‑free metals for daily use.

Q: Can these be converted to pierced earrings?
A: Many jewellers can convert clip‑ons to posts, but altering vintage pieces can affect collectability and future resale. If you choose to convert, consult a professional and note that any modification is at the owner’s discretion.

Q: What is included and what is the condition?
A: The item is sold as shown in the product information. Condition is Very Good with light traces of use; hardware is shiny with light scratches, consistent with gentle vintage wear.

Q: Are they authentic Saint Laurent?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is vetted by our in‑house experts through multi‑point checks of materials, construction, logos/marks and overall workmanship. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide further details on request.
