Q: What fits inside the Christian Dior East‑West Bobby Bag?
A: The East‑West silhouette is slim and elongated—typically ideal for a smartphone, compact wallet or cardholder, keys, lipstick and slim sunglasses. It isn’t intended for laptops and most iPads; very small tablets or e‑readers may fit only if dimensions allow. Please refer to the Measurements on this page or ask us for tailored fit advice for this specific piece.

Q: Is the strap adjustable and can I wear it crossbody?
A: Many East‑West Bobby bags come with a detachable, adjustable leather strap for shoulder or crossbody wear. Exact strap drop, hole count and whether an additional strap is included vary by release. We’ll confirm details for this bag in the Measurements/Accessories section—if anything is missing, just ask and we’ll measure it for you.

Q: How secure is the closure?
A: The East‑West Bobby is generally a flap bag with a magnetic or clasp closure behind the front “CD” hardware. It’s secure for daily use, but we recommend keeping small valuables in an interior pocket or a zipped pouch when commuting or travelling.

Q: What materials is it usually made from?
A: Common versions are crafted in smooth or grained calfskin with microfibre (suede‑like) or leather lining; Dior Oblique jacquard fabric editions also exist, typically with leather trim. Hardware is often gold‑tone, though finishes can vary by season. The listing for this item will state the exact materials and hardware finish.

Q: Is it compatible with Dior embroidered “guitar” straps?
A: Most East‑West Bobby bags feature side D‑rings that accept Dior’s detachable straps, including many embroidered styles sold separately. Ring size and placement can vary by edition—check the photos/details for this exact piece or ask us to confirm compatibility.

Q: Where is the Dior serial/production code located?
A: Authentic Dior bags typically have a leather brand tag inside stamped “Christian Dior PARIS” with “Made in Italy/Spain,” and a production code either on the reverse of that tag or on a small leather tab along a seam or pocket. Placement and format can vary by era; we’re happy to share close‑up photos on request.

Q: How does the East‑West Bobby differ from the classic Bobby?
A: The classic Bobby has a curvier, hobo‑like profile, while the East‑West is longer and slimmer with a flap that sits neatly under the arm or as a compact crossbody. Capacity is typically smaller than the classic Bobby, prioritising an elegant, streamlined silhouette.

Q: Is this style still in production?
A: Availability and colours vary seasonally. Some configurations are ongoing while others release for limited periods. The pre‑loved market is the best way to find specific leathers, colours and hardware combinations—contact us if you’re seeking a particular version.

Q: How should I care for calfskin or Dior Oblique fabric and the hardware?
A: Keep away from moisture and oils, and be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim. Wipe leather with a soft, dry cloth; use a neutral leather conditioner sparingly on calfskin only (test first). For Oblique fabric, gently brush off dust and avoid abrasion/snags. Store lightly stuffed, upright, in a breathable dust bag, with hardware protected from rubbing. Leather and fabric are not waterproof—if wet, blot and air‑dry away from heat.

Q: What accessories are included and how do you authenticate?
A: Any included items (dust bag, detachable strap, box, paperwork) will be listed under “Accessories.” If something isn’t mentioned, it isn’t included—feel free to ask and we’ll confirm. Every piece at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous multi‑point authentication (materials, construction, stamps, hardware and codes), and we stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell.
