Q: What are these earrings made from?
A: They are crafted in sterling silver (also known as 925 silver), featuring the signature Return to Tiffany heart tag motif and posts with push-back fastenings.

Q: Will sterling silver tarnish and how can I minimise it?
A: Sterling silver can naturally tarnish over time when exposed to air, moisture, lotions and perfumes. Store the earrings dry in a soft pouch, avoid humid bathrooms, and give them an occasional polish to keep their shine.

Q: Can I wear these in the shower, pool or at the gym?
A: It’s best to remove them before showering, bathing, swimming (including hot tubs and the sea) and exercise. Water, chlorine, salt and sweat can accelerate tarnish and dull the finish.

Q: Are they solid silver or silver‑plated?
A: Tiffany designs in this collection are made from solid sterling silver that meets the .925 standard, rather than base metal with a silver plating.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive ears?
A: Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver with the remainder typically copper. Many people with nickel sensitivities find sterling silver comfortable, but individual reactions vary. If you have known metal allergies, consider patch testing or choosing platinum or high‑karat gold for prolonged wear.

Q: What size are these studs and how do they feel on the ear?
A: The motif is approximately 1 cm by 1 cm as listed under Measurements. As mini heart studs in sterling silver, they are lightweight and comfortable for everyday wear.

Q: What’s the recommended cleaning method at home?
A: Rinse briefly in warm water with a drop of mild soap, dry thoroughly, and use a quality silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish. Avoid abrasive cleaners, ultrasonic machines on oxidised finishes, and contact with household chemicals or fragrance.

Q: Can Tiffany clean or service these?
A: Tiffany boutiques offer professional cleaning and repair services for their pieces. For replacing lost butterfly backs or a professional polish, a Tiffany Client Advisor or a trusted jeweller can assist.

Q: How do you verify authenticity?
A: Genuine pieces typically carry clear metal and maker’s marks such as “Tiffany & Co.” and “925/AG925,” with crisp, well‑finished engraving on the heart motif. Stamp styles can vary by era. Every item at A Retro Tale is examined by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, construction and hallmarks. Inclusions, if any, are always listed under product information.
