Q: Are the pearls real?
A: These belong to Chanel’s costume jewellery line and feature imitation pearls with a pearlescent coating rather than natural or cultured pearls.

Q: What are the stones and metal?
A: The sparkle comes from rhinestone crystals set in gold‑tone plated base metal. The plating provides the warm gold colour but is not solid gold.

Q: Are these for pierced ears or clip‑on?
A: They are designed for pierced ears with post backs, as noted in the product information.

Q: How large are they and how do they feel on?
A: The hoops measure approximately 5 × 5 cm with a dangling CC charm, so they wear as a statement earring. Sensitivity to weight varies by person; if your lobes are delicate, consider supportive earring backs for added comfort.

Q: Are they suitable for everyday wear?
A: To preserve the finish and embellishments, we recommend occasional wear rather than daily use. Moisture, lotions and perfume can dull plating, and repeated friction may loosen crystals or pearls over time.

Q: How should I care for them?
A: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear. Avoid water, ultrasonic cleaners and chemical solutions. Put jewellery on after perfume and hairspray have dried, and store pieces separately in a soft pouch in a cool, dry place.

Q: Are they nickel‑free or hypoallergenic?
A: Chanel does not advertise its costume jewellery as nickel‑free. If you have sensitive ears or a known nickel allergy, use protective barriers on the posts and limit wear time. For everyday wear, medical‑grade titanium or plastic posts are usually better tolerated.

Q: How can I tell they are authentic?
A: Many vintage Chanel earrings carry a small oval plaque stamped CHANEL and Made in France or Italy; some later pieces include a two‑digit date and a season letter. Because stamps can be copied, authenticity is confirmed by overall construction, materials and finish. Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes multi‑point expert authentication.

Q: What comes with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under Product information on this page. For this listing, no extras such as a box or dust bag are included.

Q: Can lost crystals or pearls be replaced?
A: Often a specialist jeweller experienced in costume pieces can replace a missing stone or resecure a faux pearl. Avoid DIY glues, which can damage the plating. Contact us if you would like recommendations for professional care.
