Q: Are these Chanel Swing Clip‑on Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What are they made from? Are they solid gold?
A: Chanel fashion jewellery is typically crafted from plated base metal (often brass) in a gold‑tone finish. These earrings feature gold‑tone hardware with swinging chains and CHANEL letter/CC logo charms. They are not solid gold unless explicitly stated.

Q: How big are they and will they feel heavy?
A: The earrings measure approximately 7.9 cm (height) x 2.3 cm (width) x 1.3 cm (depth). With their statement length and moving chain drops, they read as bold “swing” earrings. If you’d like the precise gram weight or a photo on ear for scale, message us and we’ll provide it.

Q: How do the clip‑on backs work and can I make them more comfortable?
A: They have clip‑on closures at the back. For comfort and a secure fit, you can add soft silicone/foam clip‑on pads, use earlobe support discs, and (if needed) have a jeweller gently adjust clip tension. Avoid over‑bending the mechanism and test fit before extended wear.

Q: Are they nickel‑free and suitable for sensitive ears?
A: Vintage/fashion jewellery may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider using clear barrier products on contact points, wear for shorter periods, and discontinue use if irritation occurs. We’re happy to advise further.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect on vintage Chanel earrings?
A: Most vintage Chanel earrings feature an oval or round signature plaque on the reverse stamped CHANEL, often with “Made in France/Italy” and, depending on era, a season/date code (e.g., 93P for Spring 1993). Placement and format vary by collection and year; our listing photos show any stamps present on this pair.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone finish and chains?
A: Keep them dry and away from perfume, lotions, hairspray and hand sanitiser. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store individually in a pouch/box, away from humidity and direct sunlight, to minimise tangling and preserve the finish.

Q: Can I wear them in water, while exercising or to sleep?
A: No—moisture, heat and friction accelerate wear to plated finishes and can stress clip mechanisms. Remove before showering, swimming, workouts and sleeping.

Q: Can the clips be repaired, replated or converted to pierced backs?
A: A competent jeweller can usually tighten/realign clips, replace comfort pads and sometimes perform light replating. Conversion to posts is possible on many clip‑ons, but may affect originality and resale value. We don’t offer in‑house modifications; contact us for reputable specialists.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return them?
A: This pair is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. Accessories are not included unless specifically shown or listed—this item comes with no accessories. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
