Q: What does the “31 Rue Cambon” engraving refer to?
A: It references Chanel’s historic Paris flagship at 31 Rue Cambon, the House’s iconic boutique and the address associated with Coco Chanel’s apartment and salons. It is a hallmark theme often celebrated in vintage Chanel designs.

Q: Are these earrings solid silver?
A: They are described as silver-tone, which indicates a plated finish over base metal typical of Chanel costume jewellery rather than solid sterling silver. If you need confirmation of specific metal content, please ask our team and we will provide any available maker’s details from the hallmarking on the piece.

Q: Do they require pierced ears?
A: Yes. This pair features a post-back closure designed for pierced ears and is not a clip-on style.

Q: How do they feel on the ear—are they heavy?
A: The measured size is approximately 2.5 cm in height, 2.0 cm in width and 0.2 cm in depth. Most clients find this scale comfortable for extended wear. If you are sensitive to weight, contact us and we can provide an exact gram measurement before purchase.

Q: Are they hypoallergenic or nickel-free?
A: Chanel costume jewellery may contain base-metal alloys, and “hypoallergenic” is not a regulated term. If you have known sensitivities (e.g., nickel allergy), we recommend wearing with barrier products or choosing medical-grade or precious-metal posts. We can advise on suitable options.

Q: How should I care for these vintage Chanel earrings?
A: Keep them away from water, perfumes, lotions and hair products; wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wear; avoid ultrasonic or chemical cleaners; and store separately in a breathable pouch to prevent rubbing and preserve the silver-tone finish.

Q: Will silver-tone Chanel costume jewellery tarnish or change colour over time?
A: With regular wear, plated finishes can dull or show light surface changes. Proper care—wiping after use, dry storage away from humidity, and avoiding contact with cosmetics—will help maintain their shine.

Q: How are vintage Chanel earrings authenticated?
A: Our specialists conduct multi-point checks of materials, construction, stamps, and overall craftsmanship. Many vintage pieces feature an oval signature plaque with CHANEL and MADE IN FRANCE, sometimes including a two-digit year and season letter; we verify these details alongside design and finish consistency.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information on this page. This listing currently indicates no additional items. If a box, dust pouch or replacement backs are present, they will be shown and stated in the product information.

Q: What are the exact measurements and how do they sit on the ear?
A: Approximate dimensions are 2.5 cm (H) × 2.0 cm (W) × 0.2 cm (D). The CC stud sits on the lobe with a dangling rectangular tag engraved “31 Rue Cambon”, giving a classic drop effect suitable for day-to-evening styling.
