Q: Are the pearls real on this Chanel pair?
A: No. These are imitation pearls (faux pearls), in keeping with Chanel’s long tradition of using high‑quality faux pearls in its costume jewellery. The drops are decorative and should be cared for like coated or glass pearls rather than natural pearls.

Q: What are they made of and where were they crafted?
A: Black resin tops set with a gold‑tone CC logo, gold‑tone hardware, and faux pearl drops, with clip‑on fastenings. The signature indicates Chanel costume jewellery crafted in France.

Q: How big are they and how do they sit on the ear?
A: Approximately 3 cm in height, 1.5 cm in width and 0.5 cm in depth. They sit on the lobe with a short, elegant drop from the clip top.

Q: Are clip‑on earrings comfortable for extended wear?
A: Comfort varies by earlobe thickness and sensitivity. Many wearers add silicone or foam pads to cushion the clip and distribute pressure. A professional jeweller can fine‑tune clip tension; avoid forcefully bending vintage hardware yourself. Start with shorter wear times and adjust as needed.

Q: Can these clip‑ons be converted for pierced ears?
A: Some jewellers can convert clip‑ons to posts, but this is a permanent alteration that may affect collector value and originality. A Retro Tale does not modify vintage pieces; if you choose to convert, consult a trusted professional first.

Q: How should I care for the faux pearls and resin?
A: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear. Keep away from moisture, perfume, hairspray and oils. Follow the rule “last on, first off” when dressing, and never use ultrasonic cleaners or harsh chemicals on faux pearls or resin.

Q: How do I look after the gold‑tone finish?
A: Gold‑plated finishes can show wear over time. Keep the earrings dry, avoid abrasives and chemical cleaners, and store them separately in a soft pouch to minimise friction and scratches. Light buffing with a lint‑free cloth is best.

Q: Will they tarnish or show patina?
A: Minor surface marks and a gentle patina are normal with vintage gold‑tone plating. This pair is graded Very Good, with minor marks on the hardware and some scratches/tarnish noted, consistent with age and careful use.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive ears or nickel allergies?
A: As with most costume jewellery, plated base metals may contain trace nickel. Because these are clip‑ons there’s no post through a piercing, but those with sensitivities should proceed with caution, use comfort pads to create a barrier, and consult a jeweller or dermatologist if unsure.

Q: What accessories are included and how is authenticity assured?
A: This item is sold without accessories. Every piece at A Retro Tale is authenticated by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, construction, stamps and maker’s marks. Chanel jewellery often features stamped plaques indicating the brand and sometimes the season or collection; we can share additional photos or details on request.
