Q: How does the Chanel Logo Choker fit? A: The necklace measures approximately 34 cm in perimeter, which is a classic choker length designed to sit closely at the base of the neck. For comfort, measure your neck and allow about 1–2 cm ease; 34 cm tends to suit necks up to roughly 32–33 cm for a snug fit. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Can I adjust the length if 34 cm is too snug? A: Yes. A clasp-on extender (typically 2–5 cm) can be added without altering the original piece. The spring ring clasp works well with standard extenders; choose a matching gold-tone finish and attach the extender between the clasp and end ring for a quick length boost.

Q: What is the metal and finish of this piece? A: This is Chanel costume jewellery in gold-toned metal. Vintage Chanel necklaces are generally crafted from plated base metals (often brass) rather than solid gold. Light surface wear to the plating is normal with age and gentle use.

Q: Is this choker nickel-free and suitable for sensitive skin? A: As with many vintage costume pieces, we cannot guarantee it is nickel-free. If you have a known sensitivity, consider limiting wear time, creating a barrier on contact points, and ensuring the area stays dry. Modern EU/UK rules limit nickel release in jewellery, but vintage items may predate these standards.

Q: How should I care for and store it? A: Follow Chanel’s costume jewellery care tips: put it on after fragrance and cosmetics, avoid water, sweat, and household cleaners, and store it separately in a dry place. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wear to preserve the finish.

Q: Will the gold tone tarnish or change colour over time? A: Gold-tone plating can show light scratches or dulling with exposure to moisture, lotions, perfume, and friction. Minimising contact with these and storing in a dry environment will help maintain the shine.

Q: How can I read the Chanel stamp to understand age and authenticity? A: Many vintage Chanel pieces feature an oval cartouche on the reverse with Chanel branding, country of manufacture, and sometimes a season/year code. The style of the stamp varied by era, which helps with dating; placement can vary and slight misalignment is not, by itself, a red flag.

Q: When was this medallion/coin logo style popular at Chanel? A: Logo medallions and coin motifs were especially prominent in late 1980s–1990s collections under Karl Lagerfeld, with Victoire de Castellane leading costume jewellery design. While this helps contextualise the style, precise dating relies on the specific stamp on the piece.
