Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Quilted Flap Card Holder On Chain?
A: Think essentials only. It’s designed for cards and a few small items: 3–6 cards (depending on embossing), folded notes, ID, a slim car key fob, lipstick/lip balm and compact wireless earbuds in a small case. To protect the lining, we recommend keeping coins in a tiny zip sleeve. Capacity varies with how you pack—please refer to the Measurements on this page (approx. 11 × 9 × 2 cm) for this exact piece.

Q: Will it fit a smartphone?
A: No. With a height of about 9 cm, this micro‑SLG is too small for most smartphones (even compact models). If phone carry is important, consider a Chanel Phone Holder or a Wallet on Chain (WOC) instead; feel free to ask us for alternative suggestions.

Q: Can I wear it crossbody and is the chain adjustable or removable?
A: Yes, it’s meant to be worn crossbody or on the shoulder. The chain is typically fixed (non‑adjustable and non‑removable). On this piece the strap drop is approximately 60 cm, giving a high‑to‑regular crossbody fit depending on your height and layers. Some collectors shorten the drop by looping a bit of the chain inside; if you’d like tips, we’re happy to advise.

Q: How secure is the closure and what’s the interior layout?
A: It features a flap‑top closure covering a compact interior with card compartments and a burgundy fabric lining. Many Card Holder on Chain variants include multiple interior card slots and sometimes an exterior slip pocket; please review our photos for the exact configuration of this specific piece.

Q: How does this compare with a Chanel Wallet on Chain (WOC)?
A: The Card Holder on Chain is the “micro” alternative—smaller and lighter, built for cards, notes and one or two tiny extras. The WOC is larger, with more compartments and typically accommodates a smartphone and small everyday items. Choose the Card Holder on Chain when you want ultra‑minimal carry or an evening/event companion.

Q: Is this style still produced?
A: Yes—Chanel has offered Card Holder‑on‑Chain designs in recent seasons, but colours, hardware and details rotate by collection and can be boutique‑only. The pre‑loved market is the most reliable way to find specific configurations like this black quilted, silver‑tone version.

Q: What is it made of and where was it crafted?
A: This piece is crafted in black quilted leather with silver‑tone hardware and is labelled Made in Italy. Natural variations in leather grain and light signs of wear are normal for a pre‑loved item; please see our condition notes and photos.

Q: How should I care for the leather and hardware?
A: Keep it away from moisture, oils and prolonged sunlight; avoid overfilling to maintain the silhouette. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth and store upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag. Tuck or pad the chain during storage to prevent impressions on the leather. Avoid harsh cleaners or alcohol‑based products on the leather or hardware.

Q: Will it come with an authenticity card?
A: That depends on the production year. From around 2021 onward, Chanel transitioned from serial‑number stickers and plastic authenticity cards to an embedded NFC microchip/metal plate. Earlier pieces may have a sticker and matching card. Everything included with this exact item is listed under “Accessories”—this listing states no accessories.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this item?
A: Every piece undergoes rigorous, multi‑point checks by our in‑house experts, including materials, stitching, hardware, interior stamps and sticker/microchip format consistent with the era, plus overall construction and wear patterns. We stand behind the authenticity of every item we sell.
