Q: Is this Chanel Vintage Coco Mark Necklace authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid gold?
A: Vintage Chanel fashion jewellery is typically crafted from plated base metal (often brass) with a gold‑tone finish. This necklace features gold‑toned hardware with a chunky link chain and a circular Coco Mark pendant. It is not solid gold unless explicitly stated. Please review the close‑up photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm any aspect of the composition for this piece.

Q: What are the measurements and how will it sit when worn?
A: The necklace perimeter is approximately 87 cm. The pendant is listed at about 5.8 cm (height) x 4 cm (width) x 1 cm (depth). At 87 cm, it generally sits low on the chest for most wearers. If you’d like the precise drop length on model or chain width, message us and we’ll measure it for you.

Q: How does it fasten and is the closure secure?
A: It features a spring ring closure, a secure and classic mechanism used on many Chanel vintage necklaces. Ensure the ring is fully engaged before wear and avoid hard impact to preserve the clasp and plating.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a Chanel vintage necklace?
A: Most vintage Chanel necklaces bear an oval or round plaque stamped CHANEL and often “Made in France/Italy,” sometimes with a season code depending on era. This listing notes France; our photos show any stamps present on this piece.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: Costume jewellery alloys and platings may contain trace nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider wearing the chain over clothing, apply a clear barrier product at contact points, and discontinue use if irritation occurs. We’re happy to advise further if needed.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone plating?
A: Keep it dry and away from perfume, lotions, hairspray, hand sanitiser and cleaning chemicals. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips. Store it individually in a pouch/box to minimise scratches and plating wear.

Q: Can it be resized, repaired, or replated?
A: A jeweller can often add a short extender, adjust/replace the clasp, or perform gentle replating. We don’t offer in‑house modifications; contact us for reputable specialists. Note that alterations can affect originality and resale value.

Q: Can I wear it in water or while exercising?
A: We recommend keeping the necklace dry. Moisture and friction accelerate plating wear and can dull the finish. Remove before showering, swimming or workouts.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This necklace is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. Accessories are not included (this item comes with no accessories). Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
