Q: What does the Chanel size 75 mean on this belt?
A: On Chanel belts, 75 generally indicates an approximate length of 75 centimetres. With a hook closure that fastens onto the chain, this style allows flexible sizing at the waist or hips. For the best fit, measure where you intend to wear it and check the Measurements on this page.

Q: Is this triple-chain belt adjustable and how does it fasten?
A: Yes. It uses a metal hook that can be secured into different chain links, letting you wear it snug at the waist or draped on the hips. The hook sits behind the lion medallion for a clean look when worn.

Q: What does the stamp “94 P” signify on this piece?
A: Chanel’s metal pieces from this era often carry a season hallmark. “94 P” denotes the Spring (Printemps) 1994 collection. The stamp is typically found on an oval cartouche near the clasp or medallion.

Q: What is the significance of the lion medallion motif?
A: The lion is a long-standing Chanel emblem linked to Gabrielle Chanel’s Leo star sign and her inspiration from Venice. It appears across collections as a symbol of strength and protection, making this vintage medallion an iconic house code.

Q: Is the gold-tone metal real gold?
A: The belt is crafted from gold-tone plated metal, not solid gold. Many vintage Chanel chains and jewellery from the 1980s–2000s were finished with a gold-plated coating for a rich colour, but plating can show light surface wear over time with use.

Q: How should I care for a vintage gold-tone chain belt?
A: Treat it like costume jewellery: avoid contact with perfume, lotions, hairspray, and moisture; wipe with a soft dry cloth after wear; and store separately in a breathable pouch to prevent tangling and scratches. Do not use abrasive cleaners or polishes.

Q: How can I style a triple-chain Chanel belt?
A: Wear it cinched at the natural waist over dresses or blazers, or draped lower on the hips with denim for a layered effect. Some collectors also style certain Chanel chain belts as necklaces; use discretion based on comfort and desired drape.

Q: Is it heavy to wear?
A: Vintage Chanel chain belts are intentionally weighty due to their solid metal links, which gives them their signature drape and presence. For comfort, adjust the hook position and wear over structured fabrics when cinching the waist.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything that comes with the piece is listed in the product information on this page. If an item such as a dust bag or box is not listed there, it is not included.

Q: How do you authenticate this belt?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is examined by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, construction, hallmarks (such as season stamps), and overall workmanship. We stand behind the authenticity of all items and can share additional photos or details on request.
